Does anyone know how I can contact an actual human being at ebay. I.E. A telephone number or an email address that won't give an automated reply.

I managed to navigate to one of the customer support email addresses, and asked my question about closing an old account named 'pubjoe' (for which I have forgotten the password and all other personal information). So that I could rename my new account ('pubjoey') to my prefered ID ('pubjoe').

I recieved an automated reply, saying sorry that you wish to close your account, please confirm that you wish your account to be closed. The problem is, I can't sign into my old account to confirm this with them. And I'm worried that if I reply with my current email, they will cancel the new account which uses it (as there seems to be no-one actually reading my request!).

I sent them another, clearer email, and got exactly the same automated reply. So basically I want to know how to contact them with a specific question that might actually be read.

In case you are interested in what my request actually was, my emails are below:

Hi, thank you for the quick reply. Unfortunately, I'm not sure
if I was clear on my first email.

I would like to close the account 'pubjoe', but still KEEP my current
account 'pubjoey' (which I regularly use).

I do not know the password, personal information or email used in the
original (pubjoe) account, so I cannot verify that it is mine. The
account however has never been used in 3 years, so I hope it is not a
problem to close it.

I cannot send my reply from the email address registered to this account
as I do not still have that email address in use.
I got this same automatic response from ebay from both emails:
Hello,

Thank you for using eBay's Webform to contact us about closing your eBay
account.

I'm very sorry to hear that you would not like to use eBay any more. For
me to be able to schedule your account for closure, I would like to ask
you to confirm this request by replying to this email with written
confirmation that you wish to close your account. Please ensure that you
send your reply from the email address registered to this account.

Please note that if you have a selling account any outstanding amount
must be cleared before we can close your account. If you have a credit
card on file it will be billed automatically, if you have no card on
file please send payment by one of the following methods: one time
credit/debit card payment, cheque or postal order.

Upon receiving this confirmation, I will pass your details on to the
necessary department.

Regards,

eBay Customer Support Department

Doesnt Ebay have a Forgot Yuor PAssword System??

I dont think they would close the other account

Yeah, but I don't know any of the other information. I think when I first signed up, I filled in a load of crap I.E:

name: j
password: jjjjjj
email: jjj@jjj.jjj

The old account is mine, but I supose I can't prove it. The thing is it's just been sitting totally unused for 3 years, I suppose it'll go on doing that forever!
