Competition For The Gp2x?

Seeing as GP2X build quality's not out of this world either, and these handhelds are from what I've seen using SoCs from much higher-profile companies than MagicEyes (e.g. Fujitsu), with more expensive components like what appear to be 400 MHz ARM9 parts, you have to wonder if GPH is charging a bit much for the GP2X. And I don't really buy that they aren't making a profit either.

What makes you think it has an ARM CPU?

Also GPH never said they don´t want to make profit.

It's the trend of these Chinese MPEG4 player devices; their configuration is very very similar.

They won't exist much longer if they don't make a profit. And their heart is clearly not in the open source movement, or the homebrew gaming one. They barely know people play games on the GP2X. And it can't be their creative vision to produce an amazing MPEG4/Mp3/OGG/photo device because it's pretty mediocre for that, and there are lots of devices that do the job better. So I doubt they are just in it to fill some sort of void on principle alone.

They haven't quite broken even yet, but they are making profits on each one sold.

GPH are near profit now (maybe just crossed over), it is looking good and is part of the reason we are going over to Seoul.

Remember Gamepark never got into profit at all on the GP32 and went bust, so this is a good sign for GPH.

Once they start getting into more profit, maybe you could talk to them about lowering the price a little? Even to $150 would help sales tremendously, I think.
