Coding For Dummies - WAS: Coding Competition...I Like It

I think you should follow this link: http://www.codecademy.com

and click on the Python course, there are a series of 1-5 min tutorials that get you started.  I followed it from never having seen Python before and in a week (5-6hours of work) I felt like I was really comfortable with it.

Give it 10-15mins at least to see if you like it.  Even if later on you decide on a different language, time spend learning one language is strangely transferable into another.
thanks for the link.  just checked out 2 of the first modules and it is very clear and easy to understand. It explains variables and gives 3 types of  variable with very simple exercises.

AS with all languages you will need to do these exercises even if you understand what they do but not what they can be used for at the moment.

Kumaki , give this a try. its all web based. you type your answers into a window and press "run" to get the answer checked.

Whilst I do sound like a broken record, I'd like to add that Udacitys course works the same way - Web-based in a window, instant feedback.

I'll try not to say Udacity again :D

Damn. Failed.

And in case no one mentioned it yet, there is also Udemy too......

https://www.udemy.com/courses/Technology

Variety of programming classes, but they are not free.....but sometimes you get what you pay for....

For example, there's Python class for $29....

- Includes downloadable materials

- Forum to discuss class with other students and instructor

- Lifetime access to class videos online
