Is there a way to change the controls of this port?. I wish to use the right pad to move front, back and strafe, and the buttons on the left to look up, down and turn, i don´t feel confortable with the actual settings. I tried to edit the config file but don´t make any real changes. In the game menu can´t change the controls neither, allways marks "y" when press select(enter).

Apologies for my nasty writing.

Try editing the baseq2/config.cfg file this list is what each Wiz button does, with a little patience you should be able to work it out.
Finding out what each button did was the worst bit! (Why can't 'Wiz A = bind a' etc. be used, it'll make it easier)

Wiz Up = bind UPARROW
Wiz Down = bind DOWNARROW
Wiz Left = bind LEFTARROW
Wiz Right = bind RIGHTARROW
Wiz A = bind CTRL
Wiz B = bind SPACE
Wiz Y = bind /
Wiz X = bind SHIFT
Wiz L = bind MOUSE2
Wiz R = bind INS
Wiz Vol- = bind c
Wiz Vol+ = bind ]
Wiz Menu = bind ESCAPE
Wiz Select = bind TAB
Wiz Screentap = bind MOUSE1

Please let me know how you get on and if I've got any wrong!
Cheers, Neil

Thanks Neil for those mappings. I liked raindogs idea so much I wanted to try them.

I took his movement and look/strafe idea and put attack on Left Shoulder and Jump on Right Shoulder.

crouch is oddly combined with Inventory

vol - is weapon next

vol + is inventory next

I might swap the jump and fire buttons and invert the look but the file below is what you wanted for move and look.

Here it is if you want to try it raindog. Goes in baseq2 folder of course

Thank you, now i just have to make it work like as i wanted to. Your information was absolutely right, my problem was identifying the keys, so thank you again.

I´ve just tried Crookedmouth´s config file and it´s not exactly what i was looking for. I have made a few changes, the left pad is for moving: up=forward, down=back, left=moveleft(strafe left), right=moveright(strafe right). The right buttons are for aiming: y=lookup, x=look down, a=left(turn), b=right(turn). The rest of the buttons are the same, except that i removed the option for menu, select it´s just for crouch.

Thanks again to everybody, now i can really enjoy Quake 2 in my Wiz.

Edit: Bloody dislexia, i wrote left instead right and viceversa, just like in my first post. Sorry, my fault. :unsure:

That´s how i wanted it to work:

I'm really new to this. How am I supposed to edit the cfg file??

I use a program named UltraEdit for all my editing and it seems that notepad isn't good for this so I suggest Notepad++ or maybe even jEdit. Both are free and very good text editors.

Notepad++ non-install version
Download Notepad++

jEdit is a free programmers Text editor. It is very good but must be installed.

I've been messing around again with this lately and am going to try binding +moveleft and +moveright to the shoulder buttons and place jump and attack on the B or A buttons.
