Is there some homebrew project going on for a new GP-ish device?
Let's play Jeopardy!

What is the first sticky?

whoops...my bad

Anyways, can you give me an opinion as to whether or not I should buy the F-200 or wait for this homebrew project to finish? Based on the discussion I read in that thread, it looks like that newer device will be pretty pricey...

WOW.....if this is really going to be offered to close to the price of a GP2X...I very well may wait for this...

The question is, how popular will this be, therefore how much development would there be for it.

I'd wait too, though if I had the money I'd buy a F-100 Mk2 in the meanwhile. :)

As you can see if you read the thread about this device is just in the planning stages. Much of the hardware is yet undecided.

Guesstimated price: $250-$350

It might be a long wait though.

I haven't seen any news from any of the "trusted sources", so it should be pretty well up to date. I've been keeping my eyes open.

After seeing the specs on PlayAsia http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-d1-49-en-70-277b.html

I am soooooo going to pick this up. fully playable Playstation emulation is a definite at this point (Thrill Kill on the go baby!). Crossing my fingers if N64 or even (dare I say) Dreamcast emulation would be possible. I would think N64, but DC is the wild card, you never know with emulation these days such as CPS3 Emulation coming out so suddenly.

Is there any talk that this unit has a GPS? I've heard rumors, and I remain curious.

So, so glad I waited it out.

NONONONONO!!! PS1 emulation is extremely unlikely given the status of psx4all right now, and N64 and Dreamcast is definitely completely impossible. If you don't believe me just search the boards. The GP2x-F200 is excactly the same internally as the GP2x-F100, just with a dpad and touchscreen.

Okay, so I'm confused. Looking at Craig's quotation above, I was under the impression that was in reference to the F-200, or is that in reference to an entirely new machine?

A different console. While ps1 should be possible and n64 a slight possibility depending on specs of Craig's new console, Dreamcast is definitely impossible.
