apps.open-pandora.org offline?

As long as I also can pull Software from the Appstore with PND Manager, I donn't care how much ressources we have. BUT one single download-point is mandatory! Never, ever split the available Software to different ressources, where each has different software and nothing is complete...like it is at the moment. Archive, Repo and the AppStore... to much and nothing is complete. From the user side of view this is pretty bad and confusing, especialy for new Pandora owners.

I personaly like the Repo, it's simple, clean AND IT JUST WORKS! ;)

App Store always felt bugy, not maintained and somehow weird organized (for my taste). I don't like Homepages that are abandoned, also a reason to prefer the Repo. An new app store somewhere in the future is a nice addition but is not helpful now, an SW archive has to work and has to be on. Appstore is dead and never really was alive imho, I see no love in this place, sadly.

I really hope to see all available Pandora PNDs in the Repo one day, tweaked to the newest pnd standards and available comfortably over the PND Manager. :)

To be more clear, I don't have anything against multiple sources in general, but I as an user want ONE connected place where I dcan download from every source. So PND Manager shpopuld also grab from the Wiki, Archive, Appstore or whatever. As long as the PNDs are valid and have at least some basic quality control.

Oooh, I already see people give a shit about pnd descriptions uploading pnds without any description or license or anything to the appstore... The mods will correct that anyway ;)

If there is modding then it has to be modifying the pxml as well and only if the dev allows it.

...and it is so hilarious to see how Craig is always right and everyone else is wrong. You get a pretty got impression how little he knows about the pandora and its community by reading his posts in this thread.

The only problem I can see with moderating the descriptions is that, say I uploaded a PND with a shoddy description, and it gets modded on the app site, when I upload the next version of the PND, I might not have updated my PXML, and your description will be lost.

Alternatively, if you keep the modded description (maybe held in a db, rather than the PXML), if I updated my description to detail new features, somebody would have to reset the site's copy.

Maybe the system should automatically send an email to the dev whenever his metadata gets modded, with a suggestion to change it in his next release (the email could contain a PXML in an attachment or something to make things easy). This is also a good idea for another reason: as a dev, you want to know when and if moderators are fiddling with your stuff...

User moderated, add "Missing or poor description" to the report button which informs the uploader that people are looking at their app and want to know more about it.

Perhaps if the report has not been dealt with by the uploader within a couple of weeks the system could call an appointed moderator to improve it.

I was thinking about setting up a mirror of PNDs and other files on my dedicated hosting.. trying to justify uses for spending the money on it. But if people already are doing this...

the more mirrors the merrier (mirrorier?)

PNDManager? Is that different from PNDstore?

A LOT. PNDStore is just a simple list, PNDManager a fully fledged app like the google PlayStore.

Either use PNDStore or get it here:

http://repo.openpand...pndmanager-bzar

Thank you! I dove into that and found most of what I was after.

There are a few big items missing there though. Pandroid?

Still much better than PNDstore. Any thoughts of putting in an application downloader for PNDmanager itself on the OS image? Much less confusing than PNDstore. Also consider puting it in Networking also or instead of system?

Thank You.

I have uploaded my port of Vulture's Eye to the repo. It is the same build as in the older pnd, I just added some screenshots:

http://repo.openpand...app=vultureseye

So whatever else is wrong with pnds, repos, and the world, we can keep playing nethack :p

Thank you for that BTW - it has alwys been a favorite of mine.

That would be a good idea, I think. If there is no pndmanager istalled you could be asked, if you want to download it via a script on first startup.

App could be weekly zine of releases/updates.. similar to http://www.dev-scene.com/News

regardless, it shouldn't be that hard to create something which works on the desktop and the pandora. https://ashleyhull.net/repo/1.html

also, if anybody knows how to dynamically scale the font size using bootstrap or similar. that would make it a hell of a lot easier because I was just full screening firefox and using the zoom feature twice and it made everything fit quiet nicely.

btw if anyone wanted a pure list of files (download links) from apps.oo I made a parser years ago.

http://repo.openpand...s/app_parse.php

I hold no responsibility for the quality of these apps as they are probably really old versions of apps with no support.

also these apps are not stored on the repo, the download links are parsed from apps.oo in real time.
