thanks :D that will make my trip go faster. what about a nokia 9500 phone (or any communicator!). it has a flight mode on it im just not sure if its wise.
Communicator style devices with a flight mode are safe, but some airlines still don't trust them (I guess on the off chance that you forget to enable it). BA allow them, but last time I flew with Virgin they said that no mobile phones may be used, even those with a flight mode. I have a Sony Ericsson P990 (and previously P910) which I've used in flight mode on BA flights, the flight attendants have asked me about it a few times but they are happy when I show that it's in flight mode.

I've used my GP2x plenty of times on flights from the UK to Tokyo (at least 4 times), New York, Prague, Nice and the Maldives, never any problem. Any non-radio (phone, wi-fi etc.) device is basically fine except during take off and landing.

I've also used a DS on flights without ever getting asked about it although it does have WiFi.

A few airlines are now providing onboard wiifi broadband, so wi-fi can't be all that big of a problem.

On a flight to and from london to Krakow I had no problems at all. All though I felt a little self conscious going through security at Krakow and having to turn each machine on in turn to show what it does (mobile phone, GP2X, DS, Camera, MP3 player). Made me feel like I've got too much junk (glad I didn't take the PSP).
