Any Update On 2nd Cpu?

I've been considering learning German but I'm a little hesitant since the dialect I'll learn will likely wind up being fairly different from the dialect my father speaks. Since I won't have much practical use for it then I'm not sure if it's worth the bother.

My father speaks it with a bavarian dialect, yet Im learning hoch deutch.

My father's ancestral homeland is Alsace-Lorraine (German: Elsass-Lothringen) so I think there would be a considerable difference between what I'd learn in a German language class and what he would use to speak. :/

Yeah, the Dialect in Elsass-Lothringen is quite different from the usual German.

It's actually more similar to Swiss-German which isn't quite a real language but more like a dialect, but it's spoken in the whole Switzerland.

I live near Elsass-Lothringen (it's near to Basel). Nice place, famous for its bread & wine ;)

Never heard it. Ive only heard bavarian, hoch deutch, and the Western Frankfurt dialect (Not the city on the east side, but the one on the West part, id im not mistaken)

* rams bus into topic to try and force it back on topic *

* broke bus *

* notices bus is covered in German Graffiti *

What good is a virtual bus if it can't even get a thread back on topic?

i'm from saxony and maybe we speak a "silly" dialect. but at least we don't need half an hour to finish one single sentence like you guys from switzerland. ;)
