I've got 3 TV-out cables that don't seem to work for me; I'm more thinking my 2x EXT is bad (for TV-out anyway), since it seems unlikely 3 cables would be hosed.

If theres any GP2Xers in Toronto, we could always do a test :p

Hey Skeezix,

I've got a GP2x and I'm in Toronto. I'm moving down to Bloor and Ossington this Sunday. If you really want to try it out send me a PM and we'll see what we can do. I don't have a TV-out cable yet, so if you have THREE ... maybe we can work something OUT.

I think it is possible that your 2X is bad on the TV-out, is it possible however that your unit's i2c bus info got overwritten or maybe never was written, I heard someone saying that it holds TV-Out settings maybe.

If you have followed my guide and still get no response from a known good TV with S-video or Video In, then maybe your GP2X is broken.

The acid test so to speak would be trying your cables on other GP2X's, they ship well through the mail and you could try one out that way.

Out of curiosity have you tried my fix for the TV-out cable?

Some say that it works without the filing, I thought at first the filing would work alone, then I realized I needed more material. on one side, so in came the card, possibly some JB Weld could be used instead and filed down to the right thickness.

I recently got a non-working TV-out cable as well. It's not anything to do with the pins contacting because I do see a flash of something when I switch over to TV-out mode and no amount of wiggling after fixes it. I have a feeling the GP2x is crashing when it's switched over. I'll hook my laptop up to it tommorow to check on it.

I've taken my cable apart and it looks like a real shoddy job on the soldering to the pins inside the connector housing. Looks like something I would have done in highschool. None of the heat shrink even fits snuggly. Anyways, that's another reason why it might not be working.

nubie: I've stuffed things to shim the contacts together but that doesn't help.

I am sorry you seem to have got a faulty cable, perhaps re-soldering and heat-shrinking is in order.

Of course if that doesn't sound appealing, get your distributor to replace it.

I plan to make my own with one of the Samsung cellphone cables I have, or get the BOB, or make my own BO Cable with the Cellphone cable, it's only a few more pins to get the USB connected to a mini-powered hub :).

I sure hope it isn't your GP2X, best to find out quickly though before it is too late to return it.
