Android gingerbread in a pnd?

Hey

Do I have to do anything with my sdcard ( right hand slot ) I tried downloading a game ( after setting up gamekey thing ) and it downloaded it but said it couldn`t install it to usb or sdcard??

Would a 2GB swap file be considered vulgar, then?
I don't know if this is still true (but I suspect it is), but years ago it was warned against making a swap file that was significantly larger than the RAM; it would end up putting way too much into swap and your system would actually slow down as it had to do a lot of swapping.

There are so many posts about this, but once again for you:

Unmound the 2nd sdcard in settings -> storage -> unmount sdcard

Then remove it and install your app.

Put it back in then.

I dont believe swap files would make much of a difference as a lot of the compatibility issues i believe are hardware related people getting shadowgun working must have the newer gpu and 512mb ram and i havent seen any significant improvement using swap files flash ie youtube has major buffering issues and is unwatchable the only improvement i see is browsing is slightly smoother with a swap file.

Hey guys, i wanna give this a spin, but before i do, how do i know beforehand if a game will be installed to the storage the PND set up, or to the SD card?

I wanna avoid installing games later on that install to the SD card instead of the storage, to prevent data destuction.

Or is there a method by now that forces an app to be installed into the android storage?

I think you can force the install location in Android with CyanogenMod, but I'm not sure about this.

You go to the storage menu and you un-mount the SD card - simple.

It won't work for all applications, but those that require SD install will simply refuse to install with the SD un-mounted.

This is great! Playing all of the games that my low-spec phone couldn't, and on top of that they all work perfectly. Reckless Racing, Reckless Getaway, Worms, Enviro-Bear, Pinball Deluxe, all work 100%. My only problem is that none of the Angry Birds games work. The original quits after splash screen and Space doesn't even boot. Any ideas why?

That's strange, ED showed off a video with Angry Birds, if I remember correctly. What model are you using?

It's from the first batch so I guess the 256 one, I'm not completely sure.

I´m pretty shure he used the 1Ghz unit,

Angry Birds runs on my 512 without problems (normal version not the space version)

EDIT: Talking about AngyBird-versions not Pandora-version, also I like to see this one

I've had the original Angry Birds work alright on my 256MB first batch and 512MB Rebirth Pandora.

I just can't get it to work. I've tried installing it from SD card and from Google Play and it just doesn't work. Strange

E: When trying to move the game to SD, it comes up with an error: "INSTALL FAILED CONTAINER ERROR"

This is freaking awesome! I re-fell in love with my Pandora. Mucho love to Notaz for this!

To be honest I felt a bit cheated on when I found out there's a 1 GHz version with double ram now as sometimes desktop jobs are tedious and slow but having Android on my machine now eases the pain a little although having the extra speed wouldn't hurt android either. Paying another 300something euro to upgrade my current machine is just too much money though :( I don't have to upgrade just for android as my htc one x can do the same tasks way faster than the fastest pandora anyway but it still feels a bit meh that I have to cope with the sloweness...

The Android OS feels so much more mature and polished than the native OS. I actually get things done in a decent amount of time now. Somehow Angstrom and I always disagree with eachother. Browsers aren't working well enough, I always have trouble when I try to to perform the most simple tasks like download files or associate file types etc. Even something simple as moving icons around over the desktop is no easy task. Or maybe I'm just too stupid for linux. I do know my way around android a little better I must admit... ;)

I own a 1st batch Pandora and I now run Android on 800MHz OC which performs well enough for simple tasks like email, web browsing, listening to spotify (YES!), browse forums with tapatalk etc.

Video's are a bit too tough for my old slow Panda, except youtubes in low quality, those seem to work fine. I still have to try plex but as I'm on vacation right now that will have to wait until I'm back home.

I don't care about the Android games too much, the emu's in Angstrom are good enough for that.

I set up Android with a 512Mb file, is that the amount of memory Android uses to run and install everything in? My ES task manager has around 100MB free when all tasks are killed but running one or two depletes that memory fast. To keep android spiffy I need to make sure that I kill the background tasks quite often. Would I have had more space to install and run apps if I had created a bigger file? If yes, is there a way to increase that initially created file's size? Or do I have to re-do everything?

Move to SD from within android to create some extra space doesn't seem to work for me like it does on my phone and is not possible with an unmounted SD either. If anyone knows how to fix this, could you please let me in on the solution?... :)

If there's some android wizz around that's willing to modify this build, I have some suggestions for improving it. :D

The 1st would be to break out the stuff that's not needed like the cell phone, messaging and camera apps and put in google apps from the beginning.

2nd a standard fix to landscape mod and standard ADW screen layout of 8 columns and 6 rows would be nice to have straight from install.

3rd would be to fix the battery icon which does not update unless I plug in or out the external power supply right now.

Ofcourse there's always more room for improvement but this would imo be a nice start.

^ You're not the only one to think that, very slowly and in secret I think many people who had a default of ': Hate Android', are being converted, it's a great OS which keeps getting better.

If I'll ever get conveted I hope someone will kill me and my Pandora.

Some games migt be nice but it's not usable like Linux.
