I think some hairspray might just be dilute PVA in water - in which case, you can probably save a lot of money by making it up yourself.
Plus, it should wash off the bed easily.

I've been using it for over a year and a half, and I'm still on my first can of spray (costing around £1.50). And it's still more than half full. I don't spray that much; don't think it needs it.

It's also easy to clean; admittedly, I use window cleaner, but that's a similar cost, and I only need to clean every 4 prints or so.

However, most people end up using their own methods. Whatever works is good.
