An interesting video for a number of reasons, although I do think it says in a couple of places that path tracing is just like ray tracing but better. If that video is right and ray tracing only actually emits two new rays per incident ray then it's still a long way from reality, but still a lot better than path tracing which seems to count only one emitted ray per incident ray then focussing on the retransmission of further bounces of that ray. Path tracing might be the next step we take, but ray tracing is still better, and then ray tracing which considers more than two fairly extreme reflections from any ray colission should be clearly better at least in specially constrained demonstrations. Only then are we starting to approach the real way light works.
