    Qestion About Class/speed Of 32 Gb Sd Cards At Gbax

    Well, IDK if the Pandora will support that by default, but it's possible. Anyways, it won't be hard to configure SAMBA or NFS.

    Manging Spare Pandora Battery

    Erm, what I meant is that neither 0 or 25 are the normal temperatures of fridges. And that site says it's bad to put batteries in a freezer.

    Manging Spare Pandora Battery

    If you store it 100% charged, even in cold conditions, there will still be be significant decay. Someone posted a graphic above, but it doesn't include 15deg celsius or any other temperature close to a refrigerator.

    What Information Will Be Available From The Battery Chip, If There Is

    I believe those three informations you mentioned are provided by the default power management Linux drivers with most standard batteries, so they should be available.

    Pandora makes possible: Tie Fighter

    And it would probably be possible to use the DSP to run code and, if the GPU is reverse engineered, even the GPU to help with the emulation. I'm still not sure whether it would run 486 programs well enough.

    Pandora makes possible: Tie Fighter

    It'd be really nice if we could run Tie Fighter with acceptable performance on the Pandora, but I don't think the Pandora can emulate a 486 well enough.

    Getting Prepared For Delivery Day!

    Well, last time I got a counterfeit memory stick on eBay, I just had to open a PayPal claim. I managed to get all of my money back and even kept the Pendrive (which could store only 512MB out of the 2GB announced). I have a $20 bid on a SDHC memory card on eBay which I couldn't stop myself from...

    Sales declare it w/ a lower price to avoid customs taxes?

    Well here in Brazil the custom dudes would never find out the real value of a Pandora and would think it was some kind of Chinese video-game and let it through. I've received things that were declared as $90 and didn't have to pay taxes, guess it's because I live in a relatively small city...

    Pandora Storage Space Hd

    Not that SD wouldn't waste energy either. Even though a mechanical HD should consume more energy, shouldn't kill enough battery hours to make it unfeasible, but the most obvious issue is portability.

    Qestion About Class/speed Of 32 Gb Sd Cards At Gbax

    But if someone uses an SD card for an OS, I'd recommend that person to use a journaled FS like ReiserFS or ext3. IDC about compatibility so I'll probably just throw a full blown JFS in my SD cards.

    Manging Spare Pandora Battery

    Store it 40% charged, in a refrigerator and it will lose only like 2% of its capacity per year.

    Dual Screens With Pandora?

    Well, I believe more people would find it interesting to buy some kind of USB graphics card to get DVI or perhaps even HDMI output (should be easy to convert DVI to HDMI). That fixes what some people believe to be Pandora's worst flaw. Also, I think the vanilla Linux kernel has drivers for USB...

    Gentoo Linux - Taking it On!

    Well, there have to be at least easy instructions on how to configure distcc (or perhaps we could cross-compile), because nobody will want to compile big stuff like Firefox on a 600~900MHz CPU, that'd take literally days without using your Pandora. EDIT: Actually, I think cross-compilation is a...

    UBIFS

    Uboot doesn't even need to support it. You can always make a separate ext2 boot partition and put the kernel there.

    Getting Prepared For Delivery Day!

    Well, current manufacturing methods can't probably go much beyond 64GB, 2048GB is just the hard limit (and, even though it might work, it's not even 100% sure that anything bigger than 32GB would work).

    New Sourcery G++ released

    Sorry folks. Well, actually, I was wrong, I looked at the wrong release of CodeSourcery, the one for Linux uses glibc. However, I'm still unconvinced of the need to use a gcc branded by a proprietary vendor (like when typing gcc --version). It's not so hard to build a vanilla GNU toolchain.

    Getting Prepared For Delivery Day!

    Yes, but that specification is an artificial limit, there is no specific hardware/logical constraint besides the specification of the standard that 32GB is the maximum. If you took a 64GB card and used it with present readers it would most likely work.

    New Sourcery G++ released

    Well, Sourcery G++ links against Newlib instead of standard glibc, something that might create some trouble with programs using GNU features, I think we should use standard GNU stuff as much as possible to avoid problems. Pandora is not some crappy device with a crappy processor to justify the...

    Getting Prepared For Delivery Day!

    32GB is an artificial cap, new cards up to 2048GB should work without any problems with current readers (would require a driver update at most).
