You could simply download the youtube videos using something like youtube-dl and play them with mplayer, or you could use a greasemonkey script to make the browser use mplayer-plugin for youtube video.
What has RMS has done so terrible to be compared to that vile human being?
You are comparing an advocate of free software to someone that has made this statement:
"The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little...
Nvidia drivers can be quite an annoyance if you aren't familiar with how to recover from such situations. But part of this pain has to do with the fact that the drivers are proprietary, and every time the kernel is upgraded the driver wrapper has to be recompiled against the new kernel headers...
Personally, I think Linux rolls off the tongue better than GNU/Linux. Despite that, I think its safe to say that Linux would probably not exist today if it were not for the GNU project. RMS is certainly ideological and uncompromising to the extreme. And even though I don't agree with him on...
I looked at the man page, but I don't understand. How do you measure throughput using ping? Could you give an example?
CPU or or read/write speed to the HD and SD cards would certainly not be a bottleneck for transferring files over a wireless connection.
66 KB/s is not fast enough to do any sort of video streaming, so I would say we aren't quite out of the woods yet. I'm glad to hear there is progress though.
I wondered this myself. 350 kB/s is equivalent to about 21 MB / minute. Not taking into account the ability for the Pandora to decode the video, as long as your movies are encoded such that they don't exceed 21 MB / minute you should be ok. This means that for a 90 minute movie, the file size...
One thing I'm interested in trying on the Pandora is using it for voice communications since it has a built in microphone. Obviously skype is out of the question, but I was wondering if anyone had tried any of the free alternatives.
For example, on my linux laptop, I use empathy for google...
This may not be what you are looking for, but one way it could be effectively used an an extra monitor is using a program like x2x. It basically joins two X sessions so that you can use one mouse and keyboard between them. It also allows you to cut and paste between the machines. I use it at...
When people say that we are waiting on hardware acceleration in order to play h264, what does that mean exactly? I know that mplayer uses libavcodec for decoding videos and I thought that libavcodec has had ARM optimized h264 decoding using NEON for some time. What am I missing?
I am most interested in learning how well SNES emulation runs. The other thing I am curious about is what emulator is going to be used for SNES emulation. Would mainline Snes9x run well on the Pandora or would it need optimizations to run fullspeed? There are so many different forks of snes9x...
The best programs I've found for video encoding are the scripts xvidenc and h264enc. The scripts use mencoder for the encoding and are fairly easy to use, but they offer a lot of flexibility if you need it.
xvidenc
h264enc
To me it looks like the image is simply being stretched in all of the videos I've seen so far. Personally I would prefer playing the games in the correct 4:3 aspect ratio which mean the image is pillarboxed. I think Adventus mentioned that this was already implemented and was a setting that...
I use a program in linux called joy2key which emulates keyboard events using a joystick. I am not sure if it is available in Angstrom, but it should be trivial to port. You can map buttons or axis to key events and it has various ways in which it can send the events such as raw, ascii, or X...
This was recently released for the Wiz. I was wondering if the source code of this is available? I am interested in seeing if any of the changes would benefit the GP2X.
