Hence why I said "some" and not "all".

    Wanted: Newsgroup Account

I can tell you now, it is enforced on some providers. For example, If I leave a download going at home, I can't even login at work. I don't remember the exact error message but it is along the lines of "You are already logged in with a different IP address.". I think this only applies to the...

    Wanted: Newsgroup Account

Giganews ? Sharing a newsgroup account isn't practical with most providers though, as although you get multiple connections, they must all be from the same IP, which means only one person at a time can use it.

Pandora A "new" Good Way To Program For The Pandora?

Don't forget you still need hardware to use that package though, such as a Beagleboard, until they release the simulator part of the package.

Does Anybody Know Real Market Price Of Cortex A9 Socs?

I didn't know they did a 800Mhz version, but I can get the 720Mhz part for $50 each with a MOQ of 100, so that seems a tad expensive. (The only reason I know is that I added the part to a BOM price request to one of our suppliers, and that figure came back on the part)

Does Anybody Know Real Market Price Of Cortex A9 Socs?

Well, it depends on who you are, how many you have bought, how many you intend to buy, credit history, etc... If you want to buy < 1000, I'd expect the price to be between $50 and $100 each.

    General Forum Closure

Ok people the "Whats your order number" jokes are becoming tiresome now, and this topic went off-topic very quickly. In the interest of keeping at least a part of the sub-forum sane, I'm locking this one.

Should We Lock "q: Warranty At 800Mhz?"?

No point in this thread anymore... Locked.

    Overclocking Your Pandora

But, depending on the SoC, overclocking CAN damage the processor (without overvolting). We don't have enough experience of OMAP to determine if this is the case here. So we can't say "There will not be any damage", there MIGHT be damage. I have damaged ICs are work through overclocking. This...

    Overclocking Your Pandora

I think Craigix has already given the "official" answer in the other thread. If overclocking caused your unit to fail, then don't expect it to be replaced under warranty. If you overclocked and something else caused the unit to fail (Eg. bad manufacturing) then it will be replaced. So...

    Q: Warranty At 800Mhz?

If it gets locked, I think someone will likely re-open a very similar thread asking exactly the same question as they are unhappy with the answer in this one. Might as well let this one run it's course. I think it ends up as this: If you damage the processor by overclocking/overvolting then...

    Q: Warranty At 800Mhz?

Ok, so how about we have a built in overclocking utility that lets you select the speed you want (and OPP level), but if put either outside of spec, it pops up a warning box notifying you that doing so will void your warranty (and of course will log the overclocking request to some super secret...

    Q: Warranty At 800Mhz?

So, using that analogy, the person in this video should be able to claim for a new engine through the car warranty, as the car allowed him to do that damage using the standard controls? No, as the power management will never overclock the processor. So the clock rate will always be within spec...

    Overclocking Vs Life Expectancy

Depends on the SoC. I've overclocked some before and you can't hold you finger on for longer than about half a second tops before its too hot to keep it there. The only way I could keep the chip running was with a continuous supply of freezer spray. If you keep them within specifications, then...

    Q: Warranty At 800Mhz?

The OS allows you to both adjust the speed of the processor, and adjust the voltage of the processor. As we all know, the second can drastically reduce the lifespan of the processor, and since there's a RAM+Flash chip sitting on top of the OMAP, there's less room for heat to dissipate. I've...

    Craigx Does It Again...

Yes, I know a few Chinese companies are back now, as I've got a flood of emails in Chinglish. One company said they don't start back until the 29th February. I hope they were kidding. [This post has nothing to do with Craigix or Pandora]

Will This Work For Booting The Pandora?

The easiest ways for Windows users is to distribute images and let those users copy the image to an SD card. Perfect as a recovery system, not so good if you want to edit the contents of those images. Then again, you don't NEED two partitions - you can use two SD cards instead, but you still...

    Pandora As Personal Organiser

Sure, if you don't have a Smartphone, or intend to use the Pandora on a daily basis, then the later may be a better choice for you. Its just that normally you have a phone anyway, and if the phone can do all your PIM stuff neatly, its going to be more convenient, specially when it can sync...

    Pandora As Personal Organiser

Yes, each device has it's own weak and strong points, and the Pandora is strong in the gaming/emulation section (due to its controls), but easily capable of a range of desktop tasks. As a PIM, it's not so strong. A cheap mobile phone with Notes/Todo/Calendar/Email/Web Browser support is...
