Brilliant remix of Katakis music.
[doublepost=1453141363,1453140908][/doublepost]I got gigawing for my dreamcast the other day and I'm massively disappointed, the game forces infinite credits on the player. There is no challenge whatsoever and no point to playing.
I put it on the shelf where it will look pretty. No point in playing through it either. What a waste of a good shmup.

For the Pyra (hopefully):
Radiant Silvergun on Saturn
Ikaruga on Dreamcast

Man, this got the ol' noodle going. Much love for Amiga shmups!!!

Apidya - Amiga
Blazing lasers / Gunhed - PC Engine
Flying shark (arcade - have a soft spot for this game)
Blazing Star - Neo Geo (arcade)
Dragon Breed - arcade (Irem on a very good day!!!)
Harmful Park - PS1
Gradius 1 and 2 - Gameboy (yeah you read right - these are great little shooters)
Battle Mania 1 and 2 - Megadrive
Biohazard - Megadrive
Battle Squadron - Amiga
Wings of Death - Amiga

The good old Amiga Silk Worm in 2 Player Modus and Ikaruga are genious.
The best of all for me generally is
Snes "Parodius 2"
and Psx "sexy Parodius" :)

Whilst not a "scrolling" shooter, I really enjoy rRootage. Used to play that frequently on the Pandora - however, the Pandy version had a problem - the blue bullets were too dark to be seen properly and has led to many of my deaths.

Whyle i tried Einhänder on Pandora via Pcsxreamed, i noticed that theare german voiceovers in the game which is a US Version..
This is realy cool for us as german, also the sentences dos make sense, and arent some nonsense, which just should sound german..

Interesting Game by the way..
There also is a parodius and an R-Type Game for PS1 ..

dodonpachi on Mame? Although I doubt it will run on Pandy...

It remains to be seen if it'll run on the Pyra, and if so how well. A 68000 cpu plus a z80 for sound doesn't sound impossible to emulate, but I don't know MAME all that well.

I've seen blazingstar mentioned in this thread, try the predecessor pulstar. it's rumored that the original r-type designers were majorly involved and you will see why. It's awesome. I think I've worn out my sanwa buttons playing pulstar on my cabinet.

neogeo:
- pulstar
- aerofighters/sonic wings 2 & 3
- viewpoint
- andro dunos

pcengine is by far my most favorite system for playing shmups. rtype ports are supreme, but you need to get two hucards for the complete game as they split it in half.

more awesome pcengin shmups/ports:
- mr. heli
- download
- image fight
- darius alpha
- armored formation F
these two are incredibly cool:
- gate of thunder (cd only)
- lords of thunder (cd only)

on megadrive there is a couple of great shmups as well:
- eliminate down
- sub terrania
- ranger x (this one is awesome, as you play a mech with the ability to transform and fly, also very tactical gameplay, not really a pure shmup)

You've probably already played those
I like OpenTyrian a lot. It has C4A integration.
Powermanga is a lot of fun in its' own way.
Einhänder is flashy and cool
Volley Fire and Burai Fighter for GB.

Volley Fire and Burai Fighter for GB.
Heh, I quite liked the concept of Volley Fire, and I was thinking about a similar style game, but with missiles that you could program. So you could shift the power around to change the speed vs damage vs splash, change the direction to avoid battlefield obstacles and/or target the opponents ship, and also divert power to launching "sub missiles" etc. Not sure if I will make it though, I have a few ideas swirling round (though no time for any of them in reality)

I completely forgot: progear is awesome on the pandora. There are noticable slow downs, but it's about the same on an original pcb, and you need those slowdowns to be able to navigate the bullet hell. I love progear. Wish I could afford an actual cps2 setup of progear no arashi.

get the jap version of progear though, it has cool voice samples that are missing in the US version!
