I would guess that the GBA has GB and GBC emulation built in. Probably coded by the big N themselves. I might be wrong but I believe the GB and GBC compatibility on the GBA is a bit iffy which is what led me to this conclusion.
Nah, it has the hardware on board to run the games natively.

Yes, it basically just has a GB in it. They only share the sound hardware (the GBA has a couple of digital sound channels extra), and the screen. I guess the screen is why GB mode might be a bit iffy... its a different resolution, so some sort of scaling has to go on.

The GBA has a little switch which is flicked by the cartridges to determine whether to be GB or GBA. That and I think the cartridges use a different voltage.

never had a problem with backwards compatibility in GBA, the only thing that I did notice was a slight change in the resolution, but this could be solved by widescreening it.

When is the release of a good gba emulator ???
Did anybody know if you don't have to convert and some other things to do ???
Is everything then compatible (Pokemon roms(16MB)) ???

Thanks for help !

You will have to be patient. No commercial games work yet, but things are looking promising

i think fgb doesnt need much to get really perfect.. everything is playable.. only some speed problems (without framelimit to fast, with, a bit to slow, some intros are to slow, music sometims a bit to slow)

the only reason it would crash on scanning is because you don't have your games in the "GP32:\\GPMM\GB" folder. They can be zips or GB or GBC games. We all have the exact same device, it does not not-work for some and work for others.

maybe this thread should be a sticky because the views and posts are a lot more. Maybe it should exchange with one of the other sticky threads. Like GBA whine :D

Yeah, the fact is, nobody's going to talk about VBA32 (for GBA) or ShiteGBA when this is developing. So I'll agree with kotd and do the switch.

news:

The emu is at 132MHz

Do not give too much attention to the demo' speed...the 1st release doenst respect at all the good timings...
Im working quite good now but no new release for at least 2-3weeks...There is a lot to improve...

see you

Yes, this is looking very promising indeed - once he's got the arm running and controlled (which if you recall runs at 5x normal speed in the demos we have seen) there's a bit of gfx hardware to emulate... but the hard part will have been done since he can port that from elsewhere.

Only just noticed this had moved up here lol - and here I was thinking the thread had just gone silent and slipped into the past...

2-3 weeks eh? That might mean there's another one before I go to Crete - Yaaaaay! :D
