The more I hear about it the better it seems.
400mhz arm9 processor, 64bit, 2.8inch colour screen, under £200, 2004 UK launch with 35 titles........

What do other people think? Does anybody know if the sdk will be available freely? The homebrew scene could possibly take off here, where the Zodiac scene has failed so far (Mainly becasue of no european launch).....

Could it be the next GP32??

link- Gametrac.com

Just another zodiac :/ Those 30 titles probably already exist for Windows CE (this is Gametrak OS), and belive me but i cant imagine interesting game for wince :). And final word - why do i need GPS for ? In handheld console ?
In my opinion some of the palmtops producers (zodiac, gametrac) are looking for new markets for selling their pda's. Dont waste money - just wait for Sony PSP (this one is going to be my new console) and Nintnedo DS (i will eventually consider if dual screens is what i need for gaming ;))

Sounds pretty good until you realise it's a shitty 2.8in screen. After the GP I could never go back to squint'a vision. nice processor though. But I think i'll wait for the PSP (unless gamepark can scrape the resources together for a GP64)

Yes, GP64 or whatever it will be called :) is something i wait for also. From various sources i have information that Gamepark is working hard on it, but future will show what will happen :)

no, i'd say the Gametrac is more gay, the N-Gage has a cooler look to it and the GPS system so you can track where you are is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard being put in a portable gaming system...seriously...where are kids going to go with their Gametrac that parents have to worry. I don't take my Gamepark anywhere other than maybe to work, and if i'm driving around somewhere, I know where i am I don't need a game to tell me where i'm at.

then maybe you're not the kind of person that would buy a GPS module for a PDA he already has. (which he might've gotten to use as a gaming console :p)

(sorry for being a bit incoherent, but i feel, uhh, weird.)

but a PDA is not actually a gaming device, and i can see GPS tracking being useful for PDA's which would normally be used by business people. GPS used to track their inventory, and other business uses. But I feel its totally useless in a Gaming device, plus If i'm a parent and I need GPS to track my kids, then that would make me a horrible parent. You shouldn't have to keep track of your kids through a video game.

For your enjoyment, here are a few quotes straight from their site:

"It is constantly linked with GPRS, allowing wide area network gaming."

wow. whats the subscription price for that?

"Gametrac's intuitive Smart Adds utilises the MMS medium to deliver customized feature-rich content for advertisers."

wow again. spamalicious.

About its MP3 playing ability:
"The device's in-built digital encryption technology uses digital handshake, restricted access and 'destruct at engagement' to prevent privacy and theft."

thats gonna be real popular!

Taking an educated guess, I'd say it probably also comes packaged with some sort of spyware.

who else thinks the thing is going to be hacked before its been one week after its release?

Just spotted this console in the current UK issue of "Stuff" and of course came straight over to GP32X where I see it has been on the radar for a while.

It looks really good to me - Amiga emulation? 4 buttons for SNES? What's with all the negetive feedback?

Exactly,The gametrac is going to exceed the gp32 and if it is released I cannot wait to get my hands on it!

It looks a bit more adult which can't be a bad thing, and it does SMS & MMS etc. I guess a lot of existing Windows CE EMUs & stuff would work with it too...

I suppose the hostility might be due to a percieved threat to the GP32, but we'll all still be able to use the same ROMs etc, it's more like an upgrade really? I don't know how similar the architecture is, so if develpment could move from GP32 to it, but it's got me interested... (That isn't particularly hard though)

I'm not sure about the open source bit, but it uses removeable storage media so that's the way in just like with the GP32...

I dont like the sound of it. I think its probably going to have some sort of unflashable bios that wont let you play unsigned MP3s.

It looks too 'commercial' for me. :(
