<sorry for the new topic, but I thought alot of people may be interested in this so I didn't want to post in the middile of another topic>

One of the biggest problems I have found having a GP32 with its many emulators is that there are just too many games to go through!

By the time I have tried the ones I liked the sound of half turn out to be a waste of time, so to help overcome this press-play-on-tape.com has now opened its screens section.

Here you can post screens of your favorite games plus add comment and rate existing screens to help other GP32 owners to choose which games should make in onto their smc's.

Well technically depending on where you live you cannot download any of the roms without owning the actual game, its against copyright laws, especially in the US which sucks because now i'm afraid to download games I really like because with them cracking down on people that dowload music, is the next step fining people for downloading roms? Because of that I am severly limited to what my fav games are since I can only download what I own, but right now, my favorite game is Shingen the Ruler for NES, great strategy game.

has that got anything to do with what was first said? and im sure i read somewhere that it is not illegal to download games older than 10 years old or something like that

this is a great idea - I have been waiting for someone to put up a page just like this. (it's crashing all over the place right now, but that notwithstanding...)

thanks a lot! looking forward to putting some entries in..

Should be a useful tool, although the lists at gp32spain.com are already very helpful.

Genuinely though are you really scared of being arrested for downloading a few copyrighted roms.......

I have a load of snes roms so i know what u mean but there have been quite a few people fined thousands for owning mp3s lately so roms might be next... although the scale isnt anywhere near as large as for music

Compared to the amount of people that download music on a daily basis worldwide, the amount of people that have actually been prosecuted is miniscule......... they are just trying to frighten people........ and its working.

Roms will be way down the list, films/tv and more recent games are more of a problem.

I remember back when any site with SNES roms was shut down pretty quickly, now there seem to be a few that have been around for years (not that I use them of course).

Besides the people fined were Kazaa subscribers, unless police start ordering ISPs to tell them what people are downloading how are they going to know?

Oh yeah, great idea btw!

I was just stating that certain countries have certain laws and it does pertain to the post since you technically can't simply find a cool game and download it. You don't have to be such an asshole Gimp your an asshole to everybody that posts anything, they need to give you the title of Community asshole.

You may have a valid comment, but for someone who says they are a 'Classic gaming collector and addict' you are making the assumption that no one else buy any, imagine seeing a bargin and not being able to play it, why not pay the money and dump the ROM.

Also sometimes ROM sites are a necessary evil, after we haven't all got the hardware to transfer ROMs at home, as anyone who has ever tried to dump a game gear ROM on an iMac will tell you its nigh on impossible! At the end of the day you don't have to visit ROM sites if you don't want to.

am I the only one that thinks these reports of people being in legal trouble for downloading MP3s is a load of hooey? I mean really.. i was reading a report on yahoonews a few weeks ago "Music Industry is suing a user named nycfashiongirl.... blah blah blah" - it just sounds like so much propaganda to me. It seems like it's in their best interests to give lots of publicity to stories like this, made up or otherwise. Esp. when they release these lists referring to people by their USERNAMES.. come on, at least make up phony-sounding real names (no, can't do that, then the 'normal press' can actually try to track them down and find out that they're not real). I don't know. Something's very fishy.

illegal Roms + MP3s, I find it hard to believe anyone could actually get in trouble for having a dumped copy of the original Asteroids arcade game.. can you imagine sitting in prision? "What are you in for?" "I got 10 to 15 for Dig Dug and Turbo" "That rots man, they caught me playing Crystal Castles.. ol' Joe over there, he was sharing some Madonna B-Sides, they slapped him with 20 years.. poor SOB"

Michael Moore is right, we really are a nation living in fear of everything, the media has gotten out of control if it's come to this! Anything for a buck..

sorry for derailing the topic, it's just got me a little beside myself is all.

Nice Site Russ...need to get some more traffic but im sure if the site stays active the traffic will come....maybe you could do a top 20 for each format...essential downloads or something like that.......as for the rom discussion...ive owned a hell af alot of games in the past and have spent tens of thousands on games and have no problems downloading roms that i dont own....and anyway if you buy these old games from ebay...the original creator makes no money what so ever....

PS nice looking site...did you use a template or create from scratch....what program did you use?
