which snes emualtor do i get that runs games the best thax?

The hacked squidge version and the latest squidge version make a nice pair. B)

Ok I dont get it i installed the 0.37 and it works except games like mega man, castlevania are slow, is there a way to make them run faster? Also i installed another squidgereesy that just has two files squidgesnes.gpe, and squidgesneshack.gpe so i copied those to the folder of the 0.37 and ran the hack file and actually by running both and atempting to load a rom i just get a screen that looks like a snes console its the screen right after and before the actual rom loads i have to turn off the gp2x, any1 know a fix?

And how do you run it, fine sir? What games are you playing?

Because the ones I like the most(Ninja Warriors, Kirby SuperStar), either don't run at all, or run very badly(see Chrono Trigger battle scenes).

Must be overclocking to 400MHz or something, or he's got some sort of secret.

And you can pretty much skip the games that use a lot of transparencies or the SuperFX chipset, I think that's all SNES emulators at this point for the 2X.

If you think squidge is fast, try Pilotwings :) Seriously though, to make your games run faster change the 'Frame Skip' option to a higher number. That makes the game only render every (N+1)th frame, which leaves more time for cpu emulation.

I find that some games run at full speed, most require FS 1 or 2, and a few very intense games are effectively unplayable even at FS 9.

No, not the second link -- look at the date. That's an OLDER version.

The first link you pasted is 0.37, which is good but has no auto frameskip (make sure you enable fast sprites).

However, here is 0.37a: http://reesy.gp32x.de/squidgesnes_0.37a.zip

0.37a is the version with autoframeskip, and seems to be the best version to use.

Also to make it a LOT better, run the program using an overclock script at the maximum your unit can overclock to.

First, you need to download the CPU Tweaking program here: http://www.gp2x.de/cgi-bin/cfiles.cgi?0,0,0,0,8,1000

Copy the file cpu_speed.gpe from that archive, onto the root of your SD card, then rename it cpu_speed (no extension).

Then make a text file with Unix line endings (VERY important), not DOS endings. I use Editpad, but Programmer's Notepad and other utils will do it.

Code:
#!/bin/sh

/mnt/sd/cpu_speed 1 2 275 1.4
cd /mnt/sd/Emulators/SquidgeSNES_v0.37a/
./squidgesnesa.gpe
sync

cd /usr/gp2x/
exec /usr/gp2x/gp2xmenu

Adjust the settings to suit. The "275" on the third line is the overclock speed in mhz. Make it the maximum your unit can handle. Start at 240 (which all units should reach) and keep going higher until it crashes. Note that sometimes you will hit a speed that won't crash until after 10 minutes, so adjust down until it's stable.

The "1.4" on that line is the gamma setting. Default is 1.0, so make it whatever suits you best.

On the fourth line, change the directory to wherever your emu is. It is case sensitive so make sure the capitalization is exactly correct.

Save this file as <whatever>.gpe, e.g. SNES.gpe and put it anywhere you like on your SD. Run it and enjoy :)

I was playing Mega Man X fullspeed with sound yesterday (until that Chameleon boss whipped me).

Thanks, I tried my maximum (280), but it wasn't very stable so I knocked it down to 275 and now it works pretty well.

I cant get it to work i get a blank screen:

#!/bin/sh

/mnt/sd/cpu_speed 1 2 240 1.0
cd /mnt/sd/squidgesnes/squidgesnesa.gpe

sync

cd /usr/gp2x/
exec /usr/gp2x/gp2xmenu
