searching for "gngeo sound" turns up no hits. Is that absurd? There are plenty of topics about this issue. Also don't like how I do not have a history of my posts, most forums let you keep a personal histroy of your posts so you can check back to see future respnses, but these forums lack such a feature. Could these boards be improved? Information is useles if it can't be searched and accessed effeciently.

@Shikkers. Not everyone is familiar with the advanced features of Google.

In GoogleType:

This is all well, but it doesn't explain why I can't search for a two-word string from the site's own engine. And seriously, not having a history of my own posts is a real PITA - how am I supposed to remember every topic I posted to?

If you include the quotes it turns up your post, if you don't there are many, many hits. It seems the exact phrase has never been used in a post until now. Computers do have a tendency to find what you ask for, not what you want.

Ysterday that was not the case. I wasn't using the quotes, contrary to the appearances of my post. Maybe the system was down (age-old excuse). The phrase I used was just a string to *get* a lot of hits , as you indicate. But yes, now it seems to be working. Maybe somebody changes something?

And thanks to DemonStar for the pointer to the "profile options" trick. Silly me, there it was the whole time, hiding in plain sight!

There could be a chance that one of the sub forums was auto selected when you went to the search page.
Yes, I had thought of that, I actually tried the search with all of the myriad manners possible, i.e., from the frontpage http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?act=idx
from the specific forum (botom left of page) http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?showforum=48
and from the forum-select http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?act=Search&f=48
and for the misspeller accuser, I would never have posted a complaint before I had tested all possible routes, which includes checking my spelling repeatedly ;^). I guess it was just a forum bug that was ironed out; I haven't seen any forum mods weigh in on this issue, as small as it is. I still am laughing at needing to use "profile options" as the gateway to search posts! Not exactlty intuitive placement...
