Cap Mod Poll

Let's get an overall picture...

  • Stock Mk1 Cap

    Votes: 0 0.0%
  • DaveC Cap

    Votes: 0 0.0%
  • Craig's Cap

    Votes: 0 0.0%
  • New Mk2 Cap

    Votes: 0 0.0%
  • Own or other mod

    Votes: 0 0.0%

  • Total voters
    0

Hmm.. Obviously in the case of complete stick failure, some kind of long-term solution is needed to replace it. Are there any places that specialize in HW rebuilds that might have some sort of decent stick replacement solution?

well i have used the stock cap and my n64 superpad cap and i say the superpad cap is quite nice, i lost the stock cap and have to fix the superpad one so ive been using my gp2x quite regularly without a cap at all for a few months and have had no problems, its a wee bit tough to hit left and right accuratly but i can most of the time. im so hardcore! lol

Do you have to have all of the caps to qualify to vote? If not, then it's really a meaningless poll isn't it? Sorry for the cynicism...

I did ask which cap you "favoured" not which was "best". Given that, you could feasibly prefer using a piece of old chamois leather stuck on with bee's wax (that would count as a vote in "own or other mod" incidentally).

What with all things being subjective anyway, I'm sorry for your cynicism too.

Uh, is anybody else's MK2 stick INCREDIBLY tight? This is the tightest joystick I've ever used and thus the aboslute worst EVER (Joysticks shouldn't be this tight). It requires a lot of force from the thumb to move it around, definetly NOTHING like the GP32's stick (Which was nice and loose). I'm guessing none of these caps will make the stick looser, right? That's the only problem I have with the MK2 stick, it's too freaking tight and really hard to move quickly (I have to generally move it from the outer edges towards the direction I want to move the stick, instead of being able to rest my thumb in the middle and move my thumb around).

I'm imagining it will loosen over time. I do the same 'outer edge' technique too.. it feels as if your thumb would slip off if you moved it from the middle.

For what it's worth, I didn't think the GP32's stick was over precise for diagonals, the PSP's was horrendous, the DS knacks your hands after a short while and, slightly less related.., traditional joysticks (for your Amiga etc) were a right bugger at times. We've been spoilt by Playstation and Gamecube controllers, people weren't even happy with the Xbox's which in reality is a pretty solid controller.

I don't think it'll loosen over time to help solve this problem. It's WAY too tight and requires a lot of effort from my thumb to constantly move it around. I'm guessing none of the caps help solve this problem?

Azure: Craig's cap helps to solve this problem a bit because it is higher.

i like NO CAP at all.
once the left thumb gets over the pressure issues:)
it's better than any of the caps,
try it, you will agree:)
regards,
GaRy:)
