Nintendo Revoloowii Will Achieve Global Domination.

Nah, it got broken a few months after we had it ... cheap plastic slider shafts got snapped after heavy use (some very violent matches were played ) ... the build quality was poor, and so were we so replacing it was out of the question :(

Then we saved up for Atari :D

Combine that with an army of other awesome games including Mario, Sonic and CoD3 plus the Virtual Console and ridiculously low price and I just can't find much of a negative about the Wii.
Apart from the name.
If you care. I don´t.
What counts is the completely new gameplay experience i hope to get.

Has anyone seen that Nintendo Wii trailer with that bloke who was playing Metroid: whatever and was jumping ´round the place like Neo? And then the other one who fought with the controller like a katana?
Kind of silly, but also kinda impressive.

I'm not too excited about the backward compatibility prospect -- I don't like the concept of rebuying games I bought a decade ago (and to that end I'd rather play them on the original console), but I do like the atmosphere surrounding Wii... so I'll get one.

This must be something of a major change in me as it's the first Nintendo console since the NES I'll actually buy.

Edit: Although I'd have to say "Super Mario Galaxy" (and its premise) sounds like something I'd be able to come up with for an april fool.

i'm 90% sold on the Wii, all i'm waiting for is confirmation that the wand controller is NOT required for all Wii games.

Im sure it wont be. Most games will use it at first though im sure. Im also glad that its coming with Gamecube ports (which is kinda a given since its backwards compatible). The wavebird is one of the best console controllers ever IMO. The "classic" controller they unvieled looks pretty nice also.

I'll get a Wii. It'll be my first console since the PS1.

But I'm fairly sure I'll be paying a lot for it considering the crap hardware.

Just pretend you're buying another GP2X, it's the same concept hardware wise you know =)

Actaully, I found out that it will be less then $200 US at launch which isn't that bad afterall. Still more then I should pay for a console that will probably have the same power as a 3 year old iBook.

It's intersting that this general feeling is coming out. I was discussing this with someone the other night and the following day the idea started to come out here. I am definitely leaning towards the Ninty. It seems to me Sony and Microsoft are locked in a battle of graphics which neither can now backout of and gameplay has gone out the window. Ninty seem to have spotted this and jumped in to fill the gap. I'm looking forward to seeing the results. If I do go for it it will be my first console since the PSOne too.

As for first consoles:

E3 2006: Star Wars to Wii?
LucasArts expresses interest in bringing a lightsaber game to Wii.
by IGN Staff

May 11, 2006 - During a technical demonstration for an unnamed Xbox 360 and PS3 Star Wars title, LucusArts made note to announce high interest in creating a Wii title in the Star Wars universe, with lightsaber battles in mind.

At the end of the demonstration questions were raised about the possibility of such a game, garnering knowing smiles from the room of LucasArts employees. Comments of "We are looking into it" were heard from members of their staff as ideas for the game were discussed among the people in the room.

The company has made no official announcements about any planned Wii titles -- there are no LucasArts Wii titles at E3 -- but we anxiously await any information from LucasArts on what promises to be a very compelling game concept.

I'm now intent on buying a Wii. PS3? Xbox 360? You can't use the controller as a sword/lightsaber/tennis racquet, and I don't particularly feel like lining a company's pockets for nothing more than pretty graphics. And N64, NES, SNES, backwards compatibility with the GC...

PS3? Xbox 360? Pah.

I do want one myself. I think it's unfair if I get declasified as a hardcore gamer because of this, lol. But bascially I like trying new ideas.

Why would you want to be classified as anything?...revel in your individuality!

Cheap price, good games, inovative controller, Zelda? Sounds good enough for me to buy instead of a ps3.

But, lying in your chair playing using a normal controller is a lot less disturbing for the people around you (and less ashaming for you) than when you're hopping around moving the controller in weird positions.
