- how much will it cost in euros ? Official page (http://gp2x.co.uk/commercial.html) is only talking about dollars (outside europe) and pounds ... But as far as I know the vast majority of european coutries is now using euros ;)
- will the price includes deliver costs for any coutries (including France, in my case ?)
- will the box be a real box, with a nice cover art, or will it be simply an anonymous sd card with a cheap plastic case ?

28.9756 EUR (Pounds to Euros)
23.7673 EUR (US Dollars to Euros)
Average them, and its about 25 Euros. (Im just guessing)

I've a few questions myself:

What kind of SD card will it come on?

Will there be a downloadable version, and what price will it be?

I've plenty of SD cards, I don't want to have to pay for another one, which probably is only going to be 128MB or something like that - I don't want to have to keep swapping cards. The main reason I got a SuperCard for my DS is to save me swapping ROMs in and out, and to save me having to store them in something. I have a horrible feeling that the commercial version of Vektar might be locked to the SD card!

Will the full version have configurable controls? The demo doesn't...

The levels are a bit too short now! No sooner are you "in the zone" than it pauses for a break and interrupts the flow. I hope the level timer is configurable in the commercial version.

Licensed soundtrack? I'm not sure what that means, but if it's as good as the soundtrack for Wipeout or T2K then that's great. If it's not as good as that, then I hope it'll be configurable.

Also, it seems strange to have found the link for the commercial version in the middle of a thread about firmware 2, and not on the web site itself, or is there something wrong with my eyes? If it was going to be anywhere, I would at least expect to see it on the "Buy" page. I've been trying to keep on top of the forums, and I don't think I missed the official announcement.

Edit: Found DZZ's post about this from a few days back, so I did miss it, although I think it should have been Craig that posted the initial info. I'm not sure whether to be happy or disappointed about it - It depends on what DZZ is allowed to do with his final version.

PS. I realise this post may read as being a bit narky, and perhaps it is, but not as much as it looks like. It's just I've been waiting ages for the final release of Vektar and this is somehow a little bit of an anti-climax.

I'll work out the euro cost and add it.

You can select the delivery method on the checkout page, we are going to adjust it for outside the UK for games rather than the current 'heavy' charges. I'll try to do that tonight.

The box will be a proper box, about the size of the Jap GBA game cases and inside it will have a plastic SD holder again with art (so you don't have to carry the box everywhere).

We were looking into making custom plastic large boxes with embossed logos but it would have put the price up by about £3!

It isn't certain what size the final game will be, 128M or 256M is likely.

Yes the controls can be configured.

I'm sorry the demo was a bit easy for you, it was hard to get it exactly right for a demo - make it too hard and you scare off buyers, did you complete it? How long did it take?

The levels certainly get longer, I doubt you will breeze though the second half of the game.

Feeback on the demo now will help before the final version goes gold.

Thanks!

I didn't manage to kill the final boss of the demo. It may be me, but I find it rather difficult to kill  Well, I played the demo about 50 times now, maybe I'll be more lucky next time ;) At least I hope for you, because I'm not going to pay for the full game if I'm not able to complete the demo :D

As psymaster points it out, the given dollar and pounds price do not lead to the same euro price, indicating that the answer to my question is not that simple ;)
This said 25€ seems fair.

craigix, I was just browsing through the order page for Vektar on gp2x.co.uk and I didn't see an option for Paypal payment, and the calculator estimated it would cost 9 GBP to ship to Canada by Airmail... I hope this isn't final, because as excited as I am for commercial games, if it ends up costing me more than USD$50 then I might as well be buying a new PS2 game or something.

Sorry if I sounded rude, I understand there's the overhead cost of SD and packaging as well as developer royalties (and I do think $30 for the game is reasonable), I was just floored by the shipping cost...

Well, I'm not saying it's too easy, as I've only played it a couple of of times and got up to level 5, but my complaint is that each stage only takes about 20-30 seconds to complete, and it's usually at this stage that the intensity starts to kick in. On the commercial demo however, this is where it takes a break. At least this is how it seems. I'll have to go back and play the last DZZ release to make sure I'm remembering it correctly. What I will say is that I find it very difficult to control these sorts of games with any kind of joystick, no matter how good or bad it is, so I'm glad that the controls will be configurable.

Will there be a downloadable package option?

Could I suggest that you do a branded SD card option? I would definitely be happy to buy a 2GB or 4GB SD card, which is verified compatible with firmware updates, and which has a nice colourful Vektar label on it! I'd be more than happy to pay for something like that, rather than a 128 or 256MB card, which I'd only copy the files off and then put away somewhere, never to be used again.

The shipping is being sorted out now, give me a couple of hours and it will auto calculate the correct price rather than baseing it on a gp2x!

Demo bugs -

ive noticed that the indestructable stars sometimes spawn on top of you at the start of a stage,

and im not sure if you can hear it in DZZ's release but now i can tell when the looped audio track starts again..

and sometimes the shield doesnt push away the enemies, they just stick to it until the shield runs out. - happened twice out of 200 times playing it.

Apart from that great job making this already good game excellent ^-^

This may sound a bit stupid but I was assuming that the boxed version would come with a CD instead of an SD to keep the cost relatively low unless this was a measure against piracy which would kind of make sense.

Well to DRM protect it via CD you would have to have the CD custom made for your GP2x. THe game will be DRM protected to the SD so it can only be played on that SD.

Ummmm..... Yes it will. Or whats to stop one person buying it and giving it to everyone? It was the same way with the GP32.

OK, well I guess I won't be buying it then. Not because I want to copy it and give it to friends, but because I might want to copy it onto the SD card that spends more time in my GP2X, or onto the SD card in my other GP2X.

I also feel that it's an issue of trust.

Even with DRM pirated GP32 games vwere still made. Thats how bad it is. The SD would work in both your gp2x's. Also you could get a download version and ask if you cna somehow have it DRM encrypted for both your 2x's.
