After two posting regarding NES, I've got the message that I have no friend here. Not a surprise, but still a disappointment. In the meantime, I was called troll and attention whore. One thing that I noticed here compared to other forums is that they seem to live in the world that they have to be grateful to whatever they have and no complain is allowed. I don't know if it's from a fear that devs will be upset at them if they do or what. It's like if we slam on mario, Ninty will be upset and stop making mario kind of mentality.

I understand the I'm minority here, but I'm doing this because I want my voice to be heard. If that makes me a troll and attention whore, so be it. If you want, go ahead and close this thread, too; I won't come back again for it this time. Have a nice day/night depending on your time zone.

Moving to .... let's see ... the Off- Topic section, seeing as it has nothing to do with the GP2X.

What an idiot. Your first line was: "Where is my NES emulator?". That is extremely rude and demanding considering that these are being made out of people's free time and is not tolerated by anyone here least of all the developers.

If you are getting something for free, shouldn't you be grateful regardless?

I think the problem is that you seem to think you are owed a NES emulator. All the software (so afar, AFAIK) for the GP2X has been free and developed by enthusiasts, so basically demanding a decent NES emulator is like buying a microwave oven and then demanding other people cook food in it for you...

You obviously knew what sort of reaction you were going to your original post, so why don't you leave it at that...

You know, this was at one time a much friendlier place. I'm not sure when it started going off track, but I'm pretty sure it was between when the BLU was released and when the BLU+ was released. Now, if it wasn't for interesting news updates every one in a while, I probably wouldn't even come here. The Jaguar Sector II forums used to not hold many things of interest for me (even though I love my Atari Jaguar) but now I read it more than this just because the people are so much friendlier. Humor is seen as humor, and if anyone's feelings are hurt, everyone apologizes very quickly. Threads that go off topic aren't closed, posts in them aren't deleted, but the community is gently reminded of the original topic. The main forum moderator (Jason) is a really nice guy, and very active in the discussions, and always has a way of making the new guys feel welcome.

Geez, that was a long rant for me. But can we try to be a little more pleasant around here from now on?

Thanks.

If you like this Jason guy so much, why don't you marry him?

Maybe he's allready married?

Humor is nice.

Personally, I blame the corruption of the age median of these forums. Young folk, not generalizing, but... :p

This is a big forum. Full of twats like this mr 'I OWN ALL YOUR BASES GIVE ME THE POWER OF THE NESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS I AM ZIM' here. The mod team has to be harsh to keep the forum under control. Its just the sort of place this is. Infact if you ask for help nicely the people here are actually very nice. but piss them off and they will have a go at you and flame you. Live with it

I could just see that line coming...

My policy...be nice until they flame you, and then flame them so hard, they'll never EVER mess with you again...

I really don't know about nice, maybe...patient, but I don't think nice describes all that many.

Where is my NES emulator? Don't tell me to write one myself because I can't be arsed and somebody else should do it for me for free, the bastards. Why don't I have one yet? It's not hard, I'd do it myself but I can't be arsed...

Blah, blah, blah. That's why your topic was closed, not because the forum isn't friendly, but because your post wasn't friendly.

Don't be a cry baby, don't run off and sulk and don't open additional threads complaining about the first one being closed. Just learn that you have to be nice to others if you want them to be nice to you.

No one here will hold your first post against you if you learn from it. We're a friendly enough bunch, just don't be a dick and we'll welcome you with open arms and a lot of patience.

The forum really has gone downhill. Even though I haven't been here as long as a lot of you, I have noticed. When I joined, it was a month or so before the release of the GP2X. Everybody was really friendly. We had a couple of fucktards who came along and asked if they'd be able to emulate PS2 games and stuff, but all in all, it was good. However, most of the forum now (especially the GP2X section) is really quite nasty sometimes. Off-topic seems to be just as fine as it was when I first looked at it, but I fear that it'll be sucked in as well.

<_< I was just begging for that one, wasn't I?

I have nothing against the moderators here, I was just trying to think of something else to make my point.

You know, it isnt often when I see a post and say "i'd like to fuck that person up for having the nerve to say it". In your case, I did feel that way. You owe an awful lot to telcolou for closing it.......you would have read some nasty stuff from the vast majority of the forum, im sure.
You come off as being a pompous prick who thinks the world owes you a living. and believe me, it doesnt. While I do think the community can be a bit touchy at times in regards to asking for emus and whatnot, understand that the people making them are using their own time and patience to make them. You dont go around demanding that emulator "X" be made for you. If you have the nerve to say that again, I hope you get banned indefinitly.

I don't think I got it for free. Yes, Reesy may not get paid for it, for example, but they get other compensation like high respects from other people thanking him. The bottom line is without the customers, there is no sellers. I don't think they're doing it for their own satisfaction. Why women wear skimpy dress if there is no men watching them?

I was partially shocked because NES should be one of the easiest emu that can be done on 200MHz system. People all jumped on me asking such a big favor so abruptly. It's been 6 months, and other more technically complicated emus like PSX and NeoGeo are already ported. So, is THAT unreasonable asking for NES emu which runs on sub-20mhz GBA just fine?

Probably, I'm too used to pay for stuffs that I want, and with this kind of response, I'd rather pay for goods than getting them for free being insulted.

Then code one. Seriously, you said in your first topic that you "Make games for a living".

Make us the perfect NES emu and I'll gladly pay you $10. Do it. NOW!

They don't usually venture into off topic.

Well like TelcoLou said go and code one yourself! Or fucking go to the archive and get that fishy nes thing and play that you stupid bloody twat. It runs full speed in most games for me anyway. These people code for a living. They do often code just for the sake of it as its like a sense of creation. The same way a artist feels after creating a great painting. And the people do often praise them but we dont get asked to pay for them. Thats what the DRM protection and commercial games are for and you are really pissing me off now. As far as I see it you have two choices:

1)Be good from now on and maybe be tolerated.
2) Piss us off again, get banned and not come back till you have a nes emulator that runs on one core clocked at <20mhz as you seem to think you can do. Well go one then. Do it!!

(USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST)

I'm sure that you will be a model citizen in a communist society where you blindly follow the rules given to you and everything will be provided to you for free as long as you don't complain. Complains make society to advance and cause people to seek for solutions, otherwise we all will be still using stones to do stuffs. BTW, I'm a libertarian and like the idea of earning what I want rather than given to me by the supreme beings.
