Does anyone know how to make your own songs into beat2x levels?
Here's how (The Easy Way):
  1. Download Stepmania: http://www.stepmania.com/
  2. Take the MP3 and create a blank .DWI file with the same name as the mp3 anywhere in the /songs directory of stepmania's install path.
  3. Use the built in editor to match arrows to beats
  4. Save it
  5. Use Furrtek's converter to convert the .dwi to .bxe format.
  6. Convert the mp3 file to 96kb/sec OGG.
  7. Make the playlist by following an existing pack, or the readme.
  8. Done.

When converting the dwi files, how do you make it so that the double steps and holds are still there and not removed? Can these feature be added if they are not here? Also, did the videos work?

Double steps, holds, and videos don't yet exist in Beat2x. Videos might not ever.

I think he said that he will try to get videos working. Are videos hard to get on the game? Do they make it too slow?

Has the 'quit the level' function been removed ?

Also, is it me or is this now insanely fast ? Or am I just looking for excuses for being crap ?

Nice work Miq1, I reckon I'll play this untill my thumb falls off

well im having the same problem as i had last time.

it just stalls whenever i press the button to start.

ive deleted all the .ds and trashes which was what fixed the problem last time, but its not solved it this time.

any other idea's

Im using mac osx.

mig01, is there a reason why only beat2x has this problem with the .ds and trashes, and no other games/apps do?

:) Try changing the arrows speed on the SETTINGS menu.

Don't know why this is happening. Can you give me the exact names of these folders/files so that I can try it in my computer?

As for the videos during the game, I already answered. I'm going to try it some time, but not soon.

Um, either my packs changed to out of sync, or there is something wrong with .4

DDR-Mix-1 and DDR-Mix-5 are out of sync with the music, and so is miniMaximum. Hm...

PSyMastR, that doesn't happen to me. Which firm version are you using? I've tested it under 1.4 and 2.0 and works fine for both (I've tested your packs and miniMaximum).

Is there just a standard pause function? I like to play when I'm on the go, and sometimes, I just need to look up for a second, to check what station I'm at, etc, and it sucks that I have to either fail the level (insane + not looking for 2 seconds = fail ;-P ) or quit the pack. If there isn't one, could we please have one?

Im testing on 2.0 running off the nand, could that be the reason?
What do you mean? Unless NAND is really slow it should be the reason.

There is no pause now. I know it's a feature Beat2X should have but it's not easy to implement because the library I'm using to play music has a small latency and it means resynchronizing music and animation after "unpausing". I'll try to implement it but don't know when as I'm quite busy now.

Another issue I'm having is that when I have multiple packs, the game freezes when I hit start (on the menu, not the button.) I'm still fiddling around to see if any one pack is the problem, but all of them worked fine under the last version.
