What Is The Gp2x Missing For You?

the reason i bought it was for SNES emulation, and thats far from perfect so i'm still waiting for that.

i was blown away by SCUMMVM and would love to see something similar for sierra games a la, kings quest, quest for glory etc.

a port for old apogee games would be cool.

and commercial games.

A REALLY GOOD E-book reader (as in formatting, page/chapter jumps, bookmarks etc) and a GBA emulator are all that is really missing imo.

At least that would be possible. I'd also like to see full MAME 1.0+, N64 and PSX emulation, but I have to be realistic about the limitations of this lil' wonder box. :)

I would say I want a text-mode links browser so I can browse the HTML API docs on my way to work. Current version available is just too slow with that fancy fonts which makes me to look for a text-mode version instead...

Also, speeding up that pdfview would be nice too. :)

Other than that... gp2xengine with frameskip settings, speeding up squidgesnes will fit.

Dreams?
A driver for SD wifi, a map reader is all I want :D

EDIT: oh, a map reader would be nice too...

Did you try this?

http://www.gp2x.de/cgi-bin/cfiles.cgi?0,0,0,0,8,1251

It's been patched to start a lot faster than the first links port.

I want fullspeed snes, and GBA.

btw. I bought the gp32 with the thought that GBA was possible for it... (and I was not the only one), so finally 2 years later and a brand new handheld, I want GBA! :).

I suppose this is going to sound stupid, but I'm really stumped... why not just get a GBA? I can understand the desire to emulate amigas or whatever since they are inconvenient to lug around and use on the bus....

My thinking exactly, that's why I picked up a 2nd-hand GBA with 3 games a couple of months ago. The GP2X (my one at least) has over 300 games on it at the moment, all it's really missing (in a GBA sense) is DragonBall Advance Adventure. In a GP2X sense, it'd be nice to have DrMD's few problems fixed, and also full-speed NES, SMS, Game Gear, Wonderswan and Neo Geo Pocket emulation. That is all.

I second that. My GBA SP is still alive, as flubba is always giving surprises out there!

Seriously, up to now I would think emulating GBA on GP2X just let me don't need to bring 2 consoles at a time to enjoy the best of two worlds. For me, I'm a big fan of gemini (the GBA port of bejeweled), solitaire and tris fighter; there are also Gradius Advance, FF, Rockman series, all of them are great!

And there are times you don't want to bring the heavier GP2X in place of the lighter GBA. (not to mention the even lighter GBA micro)

I'm positive on GBA emulation on GP2X, however. The coders are just too smart

I am biased, because I own a GBA too. I am biased, I know.

Think of the amount of GBA games you can carry on a 1 gb SD, then think about carrying that lot of cartridges around. :p
Then there's the less legal reason...

One word, Supercard.

I'd like to see the music player including tag support (eg. ID3). The GP2X is now my primary music player.

edit: I know about OldPlay, but that has some strange button combinations and no Ogg Vorbis support.

Yeah, seriously. You want to talk about carrying a lot of shit around, a GBA SP + a Supercard or M3 is smaller than a GP2X in your pocket. A GBA Micro is even smaller.

Never heard of this Supercard thing. Is it a blank cart you can dump games into?

It`s basically a stripped out GBA cart with a firmware on it and a slot to accept an SD or CF card (upto 2GB from my testing), That you can use to play NES, SMS, GBA, GB/GBC etc games, Read .txt files, Play music and quite a bit more through you GBA/SP.

More info here (This is the one i own).

GBA/SP/NDS Supercard SD

There is also a Compact Flash version here too.

GBA/SP/NDS Supercard CF
