I'd say in the next 3 - 4 months expect a new GP2X with a different screen and different stick, and nothing else.
Ooooh...
Im about to buy a gp2x, would the the new stick be worth the wait?

The new stick will most likely be a new piece of plastic (the bit you stick your thumb on). There's plenty of alternatives around, so it depends on whether your going to like GPH's alternative, or wish to get one now and try DaveC's cap, or one of those PSP Analog Armour caps, which also seem pretty good.

Could be good to wait but it may not. They are changing the screen so we may end up with a low contrast washed color screen. They said it was like the BLU+ and that screen was very dim and washed out compared to the GP2X current one. What may happen is the new one would have an improved cap but not so good screen. Or it could have a screen that looks the same. No one knows yet so it is a gamble.

Damn it. So things might get better or worst. With the current unit you at least know what's good and what's bad. <_<

HAHA....really funny :D . I think I just might do that :) gp32_console

Have you actually ever seen a BLU or BLU+ ? I have both and neither are dim or washed out. The GP2X display is not bad but it is not currently as good as either of the BLU's. (I say 'currently' because I am clinging to the rumour that it is down to the the software not the hardware, and will be fixed.)

I have a BLU. The GP2X screen is MUCH brighter and has far better color saturation and contrast and black level (in FW1.01 at least). The BLU is rather dim and the colors pale and faded in comparison. Compare with the same game running and side by side. I don't know how you can't see the difference, it is dramatic.

Where are you gonna get it from? If you get it from Playasia, let me know how it went. :)

Why do you want to know it, I thought you already had a gp2x?

anyway, I have good news, I showed a friend of mine the gp2x and hes going to buy one too :D.
Another friend of mine already bought a gp32 because i had one, hehe.

I also have both. But the GP2X screen is much brighter and colorful then the BLU's. It would be even better then my PDA (ASUS MyPAL A632) if there was'nt sometimes some flicker

No, I haven't got one yet. I was supposed to get one a while back also with a friend (split shipping fee), but we decided to wait, in the hope the joystick would be fixed.
So I'm waiting......... :( ....but not for long.....We're getting one pretty soon, that's for sure. :)

As I said I have a BLU and a BLU+ and a GP2X. The brightness and colour saturation/black level are not an issue on the GP32's at all. No flickering or interlacing. I would say all 3 devices have a similar brightness, but the GP2X looks less defined, colour looks slightly less intense. If I display the same image on all 3 the GP2X looks a tad duller, less vibrant. In fact my experience is almost the exact reversal of yours. It sounds like you have a dodgy BLU, as I cannot find fault with either of the GP32 displays.

My GP2X has a better screen than my BLU did.

Any chance any these hardware improvements will be available for the current gp2x?

Current score 2:1 :)
3:1 actually :p . I must have a faulty GP2X although it does not look half as bad as some of the descriptions I have read on here. If the GP2X display is better than the GP32 BLU (which in my experience on 2 devices is perfect) what the heck has all the whinging been about ? Why did someone waste their time writing a tweaker for it ?
