i was curious, was the gp2x a success or it of been better. Also wut will be there next version of this console and wut should it have. SHould it have a online network were u can play these games online tru like gps or something or should it have a network to download music or wut sohuld it have. Wutever u think the next console should have post it here, and if they were to release a new console when would we expect it?

its just for fun, also are there going to be better games for the gp2x that really take advantage of the consoles power. I heard carmageden might come to it. I know that this is a freeware based console and u dont buy games really but they arnt as good as i think they could be.

Has the GP2X been a success so far?

YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES.

We're getting several releases a day, people are already working on hardware expansions (breakout boxes and the like), we've got a huge community and an excellent dev team, and basically everything is looking stunningly bright for the little handheld that can. :)

the reason i asked that question is cause i might want to buy one, i have been lookin for a while. And as i can see u already have over 100games and emulators. And i like that the company has released several updates to there product to back it up.

There is an emulator already out that will convert 'wut'into what, so yes-you should buy one.

That's not really what the device is about. The commercial stuff will never be as good as what Nintendo or Sony can produce (not that Sony's handheld output has been anything but bland so far) -- but the GP2X's homebrew is easily the best!

It'd also be pretty much impossible, and even if it was, it'd cost as much as a decent PC.

and the GP2X doesn't now?

I am getting a Dell Optiplex i865 chipset and a Celeron D 2.13Ghz and 512 mb of ram.

$99 barebone
$56 boxed cpu
$41 RAM (Kingston ValueRam new)
(all prices include shipping)

hmmm. . . . yep GP2X already costs as much as a good computer.

Yes, That's not a good computer and you have many parts missing. Living in US makes this computer even cheaper but in europe it wouldn't be as cheap as USA.

This console has not been fully released. I think full release date will be around April. And yes there will be commercial titles which may satisfy many hardcore gamers too. Take a look at Yeti3D and think of 2x performance of that one.

This machine will be a serious alternative to PSP. Expecially with its multimedia capacities.

By the way PSP's 25 ms LED screen is a shame for such great games.

That is a good computer FOR THE MONEY. I have done similar last week and spent £200 on a barebones pc with AMD64 processor and stuff. I would have much prefered to pay £100 for what nubie got. And techFreak, the bits that you say are missing are probably in the barebones pc with the exception of a hardrive.

Are you kidding me....
Look at all the damn emulators that have come out.
I bet I have over 5000 great games (Mame, Genesis, TG16, NeoGeo, Atari 800, C64, Atari ST, Amiga, Atari 2600, Lynx, Spectrum, Collecovision) on a 1 Gig SD card.
It is GREAT!!!

Actually I was referring to the Celeron being a shitty processor, but those are all good points too.

Cheap processor, shared (or a few) ram for GFX, HDD, Keyboard, mouse, speakers, monitor, etc... PLUS You can't play games with good performance like "Call of Duty 2"... PLUS and the most important one... It's not portable...

So you can not compare a desktop PC with a GP2X... Compare your PC with a PS2... I'd prefer PS2 if you want to play games. :D
