TakeTwo the owner and publisher of GTA seems to be suffering from bone-head management and bleeding money like hell, recently. Their stock's been going down. So, who could be the lucky winner of this valued license if it ever shows up in the market?

you should've put in a "who cares" option, i mean, how many damn GTA games do you possibly need, there all pretty much the same. Also, i thought GTA was Rockstar.

If i had to pick who i'd want to see it with, i'd say Sony. I'd like a PSP version with online play. I have III on PS2 and Vice City on XBOX, i have no desire to buy any other versions unless it had an online option.

I forgot about who cares option. :) Rockstar is a brand name like Lexus or Acura. BTW I bag to differ on GTA having no value idea. I'd give GTA credit of putting PS2 where it is now at least partially. Just like MGS series still carry some weight in current generation, GTA series will live through the next generation and then will become TonyHawk-like franchase.

Your right and people will continue to buy it, but just like the Tony hawk series, i mean come on, how many places can you possibly skate? The moon? Oh wait thats been done with MTV Skateboarding for Dreamcast. I never really got into the MetalGear series, but much like the resident evil series, how many scenarios can you possibly have with Zombies, at least Capcom had enough sense to make IV different. But GTA is just different in my eyes. It has one main purpose, complete goals, mindless killing and stealing cars is just a side thing. If all you like to do is kill and steal cars, then any GTA will be good for you because its all the same.

EA, and then they'll release a new one every single year with a new menu and slightly improved graphics. Oh, and the game will, of course, allow you to run over every player in the NFL.

I don't know about you, but I can't wait for GTA 2006! :D

It seems that all this GTA bashing is due to lack of knowledge and experience on the subject... I mean, there's a lot more to do than killing and stealing cars. Some of the missions are quite creative.

For instance, one that I can remember is that you drive a truck full of hay back and forward to catch someone you don't want dead. That's instrumental in the game's progression. Flying mobile planes, races...

Plus, not every GTA's the same. Sure, the simple mechanics of the game are the same, but that's the same with all the Mario games. With San Andreas, the map got huge, possibly maxing out the map size for the PS2, in many respects. They improved the fighting engine, plus a lot of other gameplay improvements. I also noticed that people love the game, despite the less-than-prime graphics that seem to be prevalent in the series, proving, once more, that it's not necessarily the beauty which sells, it's the content.

I think that a lot of this bashing has to do with resentment towards the PSP. Bashing the only good thing that PSP has going for them is good from the GP2X's perspective, simply because comparisons are constantly being drawn between the two.

My point is, you can say why you don't like a game, but to dis it without thinking is kind of lame.

Sorry for starting the flame war, but I'm kind of getting tired of all the GTA bashing.

i haven't seen any real bashing yet of the GTA games? Saying that you don't care who buys the license, or why do we need another GTA game is not bashing.

Like i said, i have III for PS2 and Vice City for XBOX, thats all I need. Once the game is beaten, i only play it to blow of steam if i have a bad day at work, so that means running around killing people and blowing stuff up in the tank.

Everybody wants something different. What i want may not be what you want. For me i just want to run around mindlessly with the cheat codes, have all the weapons and just shoot up the place, so for me, yes all of the GTA are the same.

As for GTA on the psp, well, if i wasn't too afraid to take my $250 out in public to get damaged or stolen, maybe i'd buy it. But again, its basically just III in my book since i usually only play the game to run around and kill. So its not worth it for me. Nobody said that GTA for the psp was a bad game.

it's a good game, though I'd expect you'd get bored if you had played gta3 before, everything but the main missions is very similar

yeah, i played my sister in laws when she bought it. I liked it because it was familiar and i already knew where everything is. I probably will end up buying it once its on a greatest hits thing, if PSP does do the greatest hits line. GTA is a great game to just pick up and play for a few mins in between things, i'm just to afraid to take my PSP places with me :p :p

I live in New York and see dozens of people each week playing their PSPs without a care in the world and yet I've heard more stores of iPod theft. (and even that's down a lot now since everone has an MP3 player now even theiving thugs can buy their own without killing someone). Heck I ripped a movie just the other day and watched it on the train I dont think anyone sitting next to me even bothered to bat an eye durring a paricularly brutal kung fu fight.

There manot have been ay direct GTA bashing in this thread yet but saying who cares just refreshes all the bashing that's been done before in other threads, Fans of the franchiase are waiting for comments like this every time a GTA thead starts because they feel the need to defend the game from comments that unfairly paint the game as being something unfun. As for GTA:LCS it is not just GTA3 on the PSP, there are many more feature and new types of missions as well as a completly different story and modifications to the city that demonstrate it's place in the timeline as being 3 years before GTA3. To say it's just the same game comes off as intentionally ignorant because it's a generalization that simply isnt fair. Yeah sure go around aimlessly, randomly kill all the people you want, and ignore the story line but dont say it's the game's fault if you want to claim it's all the same thing without even trying the content provided.

if you want to complain about something that keeps getting sequels and dosent have much in the way of difference attached to it, try EA's annual sports line up and tell me there's more newness each year than in GTA because aside from the single recent addition of Manager modes I'm just not seeing it.

omg dude, before you try to quote stuff from me, why don't you read my post. I never said GTA: LCS was the same game. I said i played it and liked it because i knew were everything was. Also, I never said the GTA games weren't fun, and saying Who cares to another GTA game, jesus, who cares. I am allowed to like and dislike what I want. I DON"T DISLIKE GTA, i own 2 copies of the damn games, but for me thats enough so I don't care if there's another one, its a fucking poll, its my opinion not the opinion of the community. And not one time, in my opinion, did i bash GTA.

Umm I didn't quote you the guy before me did.

And I didnt say you said it was the same game (as a matter of fact I never attributed a single comment directly to you). Other people have said the things I was commenting on before downing the game and that was what I was addressing.

Yup, and don't forget the addition of lots of glowy neon everywhere 'cause we know that's cool. Plus the new voice overs that congratulate you with "far out", "nice move dude" etc, everytime you run something over.

I've already Dubbed Burnout:

"Madden Racing '06"

It's only a matter of time before EA burns out Burnout.

But to be more on topic I doubt that there will ever need to be a time when the GTA property will have to go to another company. Rockstar might have subsidiaries that have trouble but as long as the main company remains intact they shouldn't have any problems staying afloat and making new ones as time goes buy.
