Playstation 1 Games On Gp32

Perhaps a pinned thread with all the things the GP32 can and can not do (realistically) might be in order.. for example...

CAN
- Can emulate most console systems with as much or less power than the Super NES
- Can run custom applications, games and utilities if they're programmed or ported using the SDK
- Can use custom built-hardware WITH sufficient programming to support it

CAN'T
- Can't emulate: Playstation, Playstation 2, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo DS, XBOX, XBOX 360, Dreamcast, Amiga computers, Macintosh computers, IBM compatible computers (386, 486, etc..)
- Can't play MPG (MPEG) or QT (Quicktime) format movies
- Can't play any Windows-compatible games without porting (conversion)
- Can't play Macintosh games without porting (conversion)

Only flaw with that is, they still have to see it, and think to check it, don't they?

correct me if I am wrong. But I remember someone attempted it. It would load up some game, but would take ages to load and the framerate was close to nothing.

The author said he might start again once he got a gp2x.

I'm not trying to feed the fool, but at once point someone "loaded" a PS1 game on a GP2X.

someone is working on it right now but i cant remember the sight, when i find it ill post it.

I was positive when I read the title that the author was joking. I was thinking he's either really unsure of the true capabilities of the GP32, or he's kidding.

Now I realize he/she was serious (I'm fairly certain), and that's pretty sad. Not to mention he/she probably didn't search the forums.

GP32 couldn't emulate a PSX if they doubled the ram, doubled the SMC capacity, boosted the CPU power to 200... Just not possible.

here is the website with the person who is making playstation emulator

free playstation emulator

im not kidding he really is working on a psone emulator

That's old news and not being worked on anymore. It is a fantastic bit of coding but will never be playable. In your defence however from those screenies it really does look like a playable PS1 emulator is only days or weeks away.

As for all you guys jumping on elliot, we were all noob once so give the guy a break. If I'd read that emulator page without knowing as much as the rest of us I'd have been inclined to think PS1 was playable too.

 yes but that is not a real gp32, its a tv, and an actual xbox 360, if the actual gp32 had xbox 360, nobody would want a psp

There actually was a ps1 em released for gp32 that could play ridge racer at 1 frame per second... Gives you lots of time to plan your next move when passing a car.
