I couldn't find this information using the forum search and, since I'm working on a skin or two now, I thought I'd post the x&y coordinates for the icons on the main and settings pages. This helps if you want to do offset menus. For an example of this (and a treat for the eyes :D ), see the "Jessica Alba" skin. I'll post x & y's for the music player icons once I get them.

FileName (LinkName) - (x,y)

EDIT: Got coordinates wrong on my initial try. Fixed.

HOME

icon1 (Video) - (8,54)
icon2 (Game) - (93,54)
icon3 (Music) - (172,54)
icon4 (Photo) - (256,54)
icon5 (E-Book) - (8,137)
icon6 (Explorer) - (93,137)
icon7 (Utility) - (171,137)
icon8 (Settings) - (256,137)

SETTINGS

icon1 (Test Mode) - (8,74)
icon2 (Battery) - (93,74)
icon3 (USB) - (171,74)
icon4 (TV Out) - (256,74)
icon5 (Info) - (8,153)

EDIT:

I've made simple template graphics that can be used to line up the icons correctly. The top-left corner of the icon graphic should touch the inner corner of the lines without overlapping them.

useful things like this should be compiled into a big thread of useful links or something, otherwise they will get lost

Actually this should be stickied and then added to the wiki under a user tutorial of "how to make your own skin"

My next question is: If I make the bottom right (settings) icon large enough so that it will extend off the viewable area, will the position be adjusted so the bottom right corner is flush with the bottom right corner of the screen or are the x and y coords of the top left corner fixed and non-adjustable?

So, will it do this:

Or this:

?

the coordinates appear to be wrong..well some of them..ive been following them while working on my new skin only to find the icons are lining up right

The ones I wrote in my original post are wrong. the ones on the pictures are what I used to make my Zim skin and are right (or, more right than what I originally posted). I'll edit the original post to reflect this.

Thanks for pointing that out, I'd forgotten about this thread.

i followed the images and my icons didnt line up as they should have according to the coordinates on the images, a lot of frustration and trial an error trying to get them to work proper...

Aah. I'll definately take another look at that when I can and post what I find. Is there a way to take a screen capture off the GP2X? That would definetly help to clear this up.
