Version 1.1 of tonedial just finished.

New features are phonebook support and changing of the dial speed.

The program can be downloaded here.

From the included readme.txt

Code:
2. KEYS
=======

Use JOYPAD to move the arrow around. Use START to push button.

A/B=skip backwards / forwards through phonebook
L/R=speedup / slowdown dial speed

3. PHONEBOOK
============

The phonebook you can use has to be a text file called
TONEDIAL.TXT in gp:\GPETC. The phonebook must have the
following format:
NAME1
NUMBER1
NAME2
NUMBER2
etc.
Do not leave blank lines between names and numbers.
For a pause in the number you can use , or -.
Also see the PHONEDIAL.TXT included in the ZIP file.

* Just found out! You always have to have two empty lines *
* at the bottom of your phone list. Sorry about this. *

Have fun.

I still am not quite sure how this is useful. I mean with the address book now it is more useful, but it just dials numbers for you, right? There is some right in front of you. Please understand, I am NOT putting down your program VirtuaLeech, as I know I would not be able to do even anything remotely as good as it.

Does it have to be usefull?

This program was more of a little diversion for me. I am working on a bigger (more usefull?) GP32 project and needed some time away from that project. So when someone asked for a tone dialer I build one just so I could do something else.

The program is also something of a reminder to those good old phreaker days. Just like emulators remind you of the good old gaming days. (Mind you, I am 36 so to me almost everything reminds me of the good old days. :p )

I discoverd one use for the program this morning.

Someone was irritating me on the train by trying out all the ringtones on his mobile. I then took my GP32, and used tonedialer to bang out my favorite "dialtone-tunes". He then put away his mobile. Hooray!

but it just dials numbers for you, right? There is some right in front of you
Some of us are just so damn lazy. Why push ten buttons when you can push one.

Today i went to a phone box. I used your program, and it worked!

now i can call free!!!

Now leesen verry cairfully, i shall say zees ernly wernce. - Weeth thees leetle program, the gee-pee-trente-deux is becoming ay 'carry around weeth you all ze taahm' machine, instead of ay 'jerst fur le jouers et le em-pay-trois machine', non?

apologies to french readers, i dunno why i did that there. nice program, virtualeech!

(btw, how do i add an avatar to these posts anyone please?)

This could turn into a very useful program if it is combined with an address book.

btw what is the other project you are working on? (if you don't mind me asking)

It wont work with my phone(s) it says the number is not recognised/nothing happens
Try changing the dial speed with the L/R buttons. Also turn up the volume to the max and make sure DTMF is selected (not MF)

btw what is the other project you are working on?
The other project I am working on is a Virtual Novell System. It basically allows people who can not program to be creative on the GP32 be desiging there own stories/games. You can do this using you own backgrounds, sprites, music, mods etc.. All this in 8 or 16 bit color. The program also support multiple story parts and a basic variable system. The first public release is not so far away anymore.

Another tip for free dialing.

In some public places/buildings phones are protected by a physical lock on the dialplate. The idea being that if you can not dial you can not use the phone, and you need a key to unlock the dialplate.

Now take out your GP32, startup ToneDial, pickup the horn and start making those free calls.

As far as I know this is not illegal, just make sure you not caught

I am not sure about this, but I thought redbox tones depend on the phone system. So tones that work with one system do not work with another system.

If there is just one redbox tone-system I will add them. If there are more (which I think) maybe this is something for another program (any volunteers?)

Can anyone confirm this?
