After modding GPHs joystick cap I tried something else. I made one from scratch out of durable Nylatron GS. It is larger than the old design and has circular raised areas.

I noticed that the larger size helps alot. It almost acts like a d-pad which are usually larger. There are many ways to increase friction (grip). Some ways are the material, others would be to increase surface contact. With this one you get the increased contact.

It seems much better than the smaller head. It doesn't seem as stiff and the dead zone is less of a problem. Seems to work well. Something you may want to try if you are modding your stick.

Can't see the pics. Try using Image Shack..

Ahh, am I the only one who can't see them?

I really appreciate all you do to make our experience better (well, your experience, but thanks for sharing :D ).

It would be possible to mass produce these out of a mold I assume?

Somebody should get on that quick. (hint hint, you could make a lot of money.)

"durable Nylatron GS"

Sounds like an advert ;)

Very nice mod.

Well it could be your experience if you are thinking of modding, could give you an idea :)

I probably could make a few of these to sell but it probably takes too much time to make each one for the money it would bring, as far as actually doing it like a business or something. That is because they are machined. If I had a mold then it would be different. The problem is molds are VERY expensive to have made :(

what about that one guy who was going to manufacture his own and sell them? you could make a spare one and ship it over to him, see if he would mass produce them

Ahhh damn. How much would you charge for one of these, without a mold being used?

Haven't thought about it. I may try to make a couple more and see how much time it takes. I could probably do a couple.

that looks to be very similar in shape to my n64 superpad stick mod a bit bigger than i would like but looks awesome

I would definately pay $$$ for that!

On a side note, will GPH make "official" joystick mods?

Thats so neat makes me want to pull some stuff out and try to make my own, rather than using a nintendo 64, or the original one :)

I've heard the deadzone problem can be fixed by loosening the screws to the GP2X motherboard and shifting the mobo ever so slightly.

Someone in this forum said it.

I said that I got my stick to stopping hitting the case by doing that, no more, no less.
