Overclocking The Gp2x Hope The Dev Don't Consider

first, 266 is the NOMINAL value for the cpu, so it's NOT an overcklocking,
266mhz isn't stable for some people, so yes it is overclocking.
I've not heard of anyone who can't reach 250mhz though.

266 and 280 run perfectly stable for me, afaik the Arm9 200mhz was certified to work at 266 w/o any problems.
Then come round here and tell that to this board that's sitting in front of me and refusing to go above 250mhz.

A devboard? Maybe they run a bit slower...

no it is not overcklocking because the cpu is made to run at that frequency, everything lower is UNDERCKLOCKING stable or not

but by the way it seems only the SNES emu crashed at 266 and lower, while i can run anything else at 280, so i wouldn't blame the MMSP2 too fast ;)
or maybe the MMSP2 is a bit undervolted, making it unstable at it's nominal frequency, but that's only a theory :p

I did some quick tests and can't find a unit which does not goto 250mhz, after christmas when I have more time I'll find out what the deal is on out the box cpu speed.

now that you mentioned it. it would be cool for devs to include a over/under clock option to their program.

say GBA emu have option to overclock in the setting menus (similiar to frameskip)

or how about this.. a GBC emu automatically underclock the GP2x when running to lengthen battery life. (since I doubt we need full 200mhz to emulate a GB/GBC)
or at least a option in the setting to underclock.

that would be sweet.

This is why CPU/LCD Tweaker is such a good 'program' not so much the standalone program itself but it allows the devs to include it within their emus/games etc, Downclock for the menu, overclock for the actual program (if need be) etc

The new firmware that is going to be released even supposedly includes this...
