Snes Emulator Released

I tried the emulator but it didn't work, maybe I did something wrong as there were no instructions provided within the package. All I got is a blank black screen when running the emu.

This is what I tried so far...
- to just launch the emu
- to run install_libs from the utility launcher + launch the emu from game menu
- to insert a rom file with filename top.smc in the directory with emu (as some file included that filename) + launch the emu

Any ideas what to try next? Thanks in advance and can't wait to see that in action :) Props for the devs!

Looks very cool!

Although Mode 7 doesn't seem to work in the Mario Kart video.. It says something about Mode 7 on gp32spain but I can't understand it.. ;)

Iam blind or something ?

Video shows Yoshi running on SNES emu, and its running with about ~2 fps!!!!

Well, it's a simple C port yet, no ASM, and Yoshi's Island is one of the most complicated games out there, as it has another processor on board...
And it only uses one 200MHz processor of the gp2x, not overclocked, not anything else.

So, one processor more to emulate, and all running under Linux with C... should be possible to make it at least 4 to 8 times as fast.
(and Yoshi runs about half the speed as most other games in every SNES emulator).

So a fullspeed SNES emulator with fs0-1 on most games is definately possible :)

Yea Yoshis Island is VERY slow...

But the Emu is BETA ^^

Does the Emu use one or two CPU?
If only one, so we can expect Yoshi at 100% with both or?

OOPS: Too late ED answered it above ^^

It says that Mode 7 is not supported in Mario Kart but it works in Final Fantasy 6 with good sound quality but a bit low volume. It also says it´s 5-6 fps.

Im glad its been released but I think NK should have spent more time perfecting it before giving it to the public, from the videos I have seen it doesnt look very fun at the moment. Hopefully he will continue working on it with the dedication of devs like reesy and others here and we will get a fully working SNES emu in the future. :)

The fact that It isn't bombing into the ground with yoshis Island is very pleasing.

I mean, It was the game that pushed the SNES to every limit it had.

Very promising start! The fact that it can run Yoshi's Island AT ALL is excellent!

For an alpha build only days after the GP2X's release, things are looking great. Well done NK!

yeah. amazing that the machine has not even been shipped to customers outside Korea yet and we already have a working SNES emu.

Just wish there was a video of SMW on fs0 with sound. That would be a great indicator of emu speed. Yoshi's Island doesnt really give much away.

Well, look how well the SNES Emulator runs on GP32 with 166MHz, and the sound core could even be optimized more.

Now take 33MHz more, double them - why the heck should it NOT be possible doing it full speed? :)

Agreed! Hell, a bit of enthusiasm is well needed around these parts at the minute, thanks ED :)

Ask anyone if they thought the first(?) emu available (in alpha or any form) for the GP2X would be a SNES one a week ago, and you'd have been barbequed by the flamers :D

When this works it's all I need as far as emus go, ps1 would be nice, but the bulk of my childhood was spent on NES/SNES. Is there a NES emu out yet? it would be strange to have a SNES but not an NES.

Thanx,
Stan
