Have I Been A Bit Silly?

Why? it's already served it's purpose hasn't it?

Most of my coleco games are sitting right in front of me, original carts... Always lived it's Spyhunter, Omegarace, PepperII, Venture, Zaxxon, Smurf, and a few other game that I cant see without moving some old video tapes out of the way...

I think that the gp2x is gonna have a slow start. The mainstream consoles like Xbox 360 are going to take off a lot quicker.

It will be kind of hard to lug around a 360 and monitor though. And they aren't too good on batteries either.

I believe you can get 3 whole seconds out of 15 D cells... (monitor excluded) ;)

By it's very definition it's going to have a slow start when you compare it to a "mainstream" system like the 360. If even half the people that own a GP32 preordered a 2X and if enough new interst has been generated by Linux, then AT BEST the launch will be 200,000 units. The 360 will likely sell that much just on the west coast alone.

I bet those 200,000 units make GPH more money than whatever MS makes off of the 360 in total sales worldwide.

Thanx,
Stan

Ratio wise, most certainly. The big boys (except for Nintendo) sell new consoles for two years before making a single dollar off hardware. GPH is obviouslymaking most of their money off hardware units sold since they arnt likely to have much in the way of software revenue to fall back on like the big boys can in those initial months..

I don't know, how old is xbox, and they are still over 3 billion in the hole, the head xbox guy is 'confident' that the 360 will make a profit though.

Thanx,
Stan

Supposedly the systems had actually started to make a profit but that was just before Spny dropped their price agains and forced MS to do the same.

I think the Xbox2's start will be slower. It has to be cracked, first. :p

If the GP2X sells 200,000 units in it's whole lifetime that'd be amazing. Remember, the GP32 sold 30,000... But even if GPH only makes 5$ with it, it'll be more than the huge negative sum M$ is likely going to get with their Xbox 2... :D
