Right, we need a venu to meet up in in Bath. Something that's easy to find and doesn't mind a group of rowdy techno-lovers imposing themselves :D

A decent pub or other meeting place would be good place to start....

Get those suggestions in....

The Lamb & Lion is a nice pub, it's got a backgarden too. It should be easy enough for people to find it, only a 2 min walk from the bus station/train station.

Any preference on pub type?

There are several newer 'trendy' type bars that could accommodate a large group.

HaHa!, RSVP or Batey's are big and have large tables to move around. (HaHa! is by far the nicest but it’s out of town a little)

Saying that there not my normal drinking holes so I can't comment on the cliental on a Saturday. There are several pubs that I am sure we could organise a room or get permission to block a load of tables together if you want me to look into it :). Failing that, Bath is full of licensed Cafe places, most of which could hold a group without the slightest problems and offer food and drink as a starting point.

HaHa! and RSVP are both in Cardiff too. I agree that HaHa! is much better, but if it's out of town a little it may be a bit inconvenient.

Another thing is that both of those places are a bit more expensive than most. And waht are they like about 16-17 year olds? That may not be an issue, but it's worth bearing in mind if some younger GP32ers decide to come along...

Yeah - definitely - have a look into it and get back to me - either on the board, or email through gp32zone.co.uk.

Would be good to have someone who can arrange a venue etc. Don't know whether or not we need exclusive use of somewhere - I doubt it, but I suppose that depends on the venue. We can always move about anyway - nothing keeping us in one place!

Axeman,

I'll be in town during the week so I’ll do some digging. It might be handy to mention it to whatever place we choose just so as there are no problems.

Bath tends to get tougher on underage people in pubs in the evening; during the day I don't think there will be any probs.

Unfortunately none of the bigger pubs are that cheep (much like Cardiff) only the smaller more friendly ones.

Any pub you choose is gonna have to be somewhere without any sort of dress code.I know it wont be much of a problem in the day but dpepnding on how long it goes on it might be a problem at night cause I dress like the scruffy hippy that I am.

Oh man! I can't be arsed with dress codes! I don't think we'll be going anywhere near anywhere that requires you to be vaguely smart.

:D

Will the pub have Hoegaarden on Tap?

I damm well hope so :D.

Dress code, the only dress code I follow is fat ugly troll ;). So if I have anything to do with finding a pub you can be sure dress code will not be a problem.

Right,

Done a little digging and there are loads of options.
Below are a few to start the ball rolling.

Pub's

Hobgoblin - Student pub with big downstairs for drinking and games. Easy to find.

Hatchet’s - Cheap spit and sawdust pub, large upstairs for drinking (one of my locals) ;). Slightly harder find.

Porter - Fair bit of space with good beer. Vegetarian food only. Easy to find.

Lamb and Lion - OK, on the costlier side. Bit tight on space on Saturdays as it's close to city centre. Easy to find.

Trendier style ‘City’ Pub's - All easy to find.

RSVP - Costs more for booze but is big with ample space for a meet up. Slightly tougher on underage from memory.

Litten Tree, Batey's much like RSVP.

HaHa! - Again, costs more but tends to be more relaxed. 8 mins walk from train station in the old Tram Shed here (Roughly where arrow is).

On top of all that most of the places serve light meals and there are burger joints and deli’s etc. near by if that's your fancy.

On a gutting side note. Not one appears to serve Hoegarden on tap any more :(.

If anybody wants me to look for more or has specific requirements let me know.

Right - I reckon the more traditional pubs will have a more liberal policy on the slightly more underagfe of the group, so it may be better to go with them.

Shame - they don't know what they're missing (he says swigging from a glass of Hoegaarden in a nice ice cold Hoegaarden glass.... :p)

I dont think it should be too much trouble to direct people. We just need to post directions and a little map from the train station or something, and it should be fine....

I may come to Bath myself over the next few weeks and scope out the venues :p

or I may just say "DJ, you choose!"

I'll see if I've got a day spare. If so, I'll sort out getting down and maybe meet you there to have a look around if it's ok with you :)

Lets see what happens...

Any one know the price of a train ticket form Loughborough to Bath?
Any good/cheap B&B's over there?

@ Zimba where are you landing in the UK? on the off chance its East Mindlands Airport im only 10 mins down the A6 from there if u need lift to your hotel or the train station to get to Bath just let me know.

JDUK,

What's your budget for a B&B. They start at about £12 a night (Room above a pub).

Loughborough to Bath return is about £45 without a railcard (advance) from memory. I visited a mate at Uni there last year.

Cheers DJ, thats great & within my budget. Above a pub suits me fine :) short walk to bed if i miss the last train.

Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Try www.thetrainline.com if you book tickets 14 advance the can normally be had for a at least 50% less than travelling on the day.

Hobgoblin-Drinking & games.Sounds like fun to me...That one gets my vote.
