Hi all

Ive only just got a GP32 from a guy on another programming forum, and intend to port some of my shooters to the machine.

However, Althought the machine came with a manual / box etc the guy has sold me a pretty knackered machine.

The battery cover is missing of the back.

He has drilled a larger hole around the port where the Joystick is (making the joystick really loose and seemingly impossible to move on in any of the angles!)

There is a hole on the back with a switch which is ment to turn on a light (I think its an afterburner). But that doesnt work.

So, Im after a spare case if anyone has one to sell (i.e A dead GP32 would be fine).

Also does anyone have an idea on how to replace / fit an afterburner? or how to fix a Joypad? (although I think it will work with a replacement front case).

Im soo gutted, I bought it on the spur of the moment as I want to port my scrolling shooters to the GP32..

Also Ive no Idea how to get files across, I've tried the PC link program and I can format the memory card, but I cant seem to copy anything across to it. (I use XP)

What is this registration thing that people talk about? It didnt come with an original disc (just a CDR disk with tools, Emus etc)

So at the moment Im a sitting here, feeling rather upset and frustrated and contemplating just working on the DC.

Any info / help is appreciated

Cheers
Q

This is the standard light in the flu not a addon,

Find your self a card reader, www.ebuyer.co.uk where selling them for 99p before including postage.

With a card reader you wont need the reg disk as you bought it off a programmer i assume it will be flashed with slubmans firmware or similar.

hope this helps

Yeah, that must have been dino, does it look like this one?

How Much did you pay for it? It sounds like you were cheated.
There is no way to replace the fronliight, and I don`t think, it will be easy to fin a replacement shell...

Man, what an introduction to the scene. Seriously, the person who sold you that has no conscience.

There are a lot of joystick fix threads in these boards laready, so you should be spoiled for choice :) Check out the FAQ board first - although there was a good one recently which might not be in the FAQ yet. I'll try to find it for you.
EDIT: Frolik even reviewed the fix here

PC Link sucks majorly for copying files across. If you manage to get at least one file across, make it gpdrive.fxe. Once you have this on your GP32, you no longer need another app - winXP will recognise it as another device when you plug the USB port in, and you can copy directly to it.
EDIT: Instruction in my post here

I haven't registered my GP32. I think it is if you want to download commercial games. The games are encoded with a key that is unique to you GP I believe, and only your GP can decode/run it (well, you know, without *cough*cracks*cough*)

Good luck.

YAY!

Sorry about what happened to you guy, relax, just take a break guy.

As for your shooting games, I'm really looking forward to them, as you can never have too many shooting games.

If you were planning on porting these games anyway, you should enter the GBAx competition (closing date for entries is 31st of May).

BYEEEEE!!

Cheers for everyones help.

Ive just purchased a card reader. It isnt that GP32 from the link you sent me, but it looks pretty similar :(

Nova I would really appreciate it if you could help me out, I could pay you somethign for it (although I am pretty skint).

As to teh games, they are PC and DC. One is going to be oublished on the PC very soon, however I want to rewrite it so I can play it on the train :)

I will start porting it once I get the Joystick / case etc working. I will post screens here if you guys are interested. Once up and running you guys are welcome to test it.

They are written in C, sometime I use ASM for Libraries. Only on limited hardware like DC and hopefully GP32.

How much did you pay for your GP32? Did the seller tell you about the defects before hand?

Man, I just hate to see people get ripped off. Anyays wleocme to the seen and I look foward to the games youa re porting.

Just don't find your self staying up untill 4:00AM sorting and playing games, HEHEHE...

Hi there,

Just thought I would say Hi and welcome you to the world of the GP32. I'm sorry to hear your start on this fab console was less than perfect, but as D:Ream once sang "Things can only get better!"

If you're looking for things to seriously impress your good self on the GP32, try what I loaded the first time I got mine:

1. Pinball Fantasies Demo
2. Doom Demo (Install the Doom.WAD for full version)

Both of these make the GP32 a most bodacious experience by themselves.

Next I would definitely give DrMD a try!

And Finally, except a hug form me for all the hassle you have had with the manic GP you were sold.

Tatty Byeee For Now,
Clare.

EDIT: Try LittleJohn the NES Emu too, it's a hoot!

Welcome matey :)

Sad that the x-owner ripped you off, that usually happens to me to :(

Dont worry about registering too much atm, that is only to get the firmware, which will already have been done as its secondhand, and if you want to buy any of the commercial games off the game park website.

I also recommend Doom http://gp32eu.com/games.php?jeu_base=15 to show off the power of the gp32

Plus puzzle mix http://www.nekanium.com/gp32/projects.htm for an amazingly addictive game ( mind you, you may want to give it a miss for now if you wont time to work on porting your shooters ;) ), Rick D http://www.bigorno.net/xrick/download.html for a platformer and Toby Drummer http://www.gbax.com/16days/results.html, a big reason for me getting a gp32
