Ps2 - Ultimate Accessory

i wish ps2 hacking was as simple as it is for xbox, haha. even running games off your hdd is a hassle, and no ftp? that's weak. but i guess ejecting your ps2's hd is pretty easy and doesn't require unscrewing anything.
ahh, i gave up on the whole ps2 backup thing after i killed my ps2 while tyring ito install a chip. the points were freakin microscopic! damn sony.
swap magic 4 life.
later

Swap Magic is a retards tool, get a proper chip.

Plus running PS2 games off a HDD is simple as pie, as long as you are slightly knowledgable of computers.

it was easy as balls for me
i'll have to get that program

for some reason my computer is downloading mortal kombat deception

I just heard something and I would like some clarification...

Does the ps2 use standard IDE harddrives? Or something else? Cause one person (not on this board) is saying that the drive isn't ide or something an di'm confused.

Nah, it's just a regular drive. Don't listen to the other guy.

I'm starting to doubt the guy... so another thing he said was:

- Multiplayer (online games) won't work when using this type of harddrive disk copying system.

Now based on what you said, I'm thinking that what he said was complete BS right?

why swap magic is the best solution for me:

I seldom play my ps2 cept for the occasional import game. shit, i rarely play my ps2. if i played it as much as i used to then i would definitely have it chipped. back when i destroyed my first ps2(got another for free luckily) with a chip attempt i resorted to swap magic and those endless no mod rip kits for dvd rips...that was a hassle.
blah, in any case, the few ps2 games that i do like i purchase. the few imports and backups i have swap magic is good enough for. shit, it's only one 20 second swap for a game i play like 20 mins a week.

now if i was a super pirate wanker that just has to have every ps2 game under the sun, then swap magic would be the retard's tool.
and the ps2 hdd thing....it's alright, it's nice, whatever..but not as super wickedly awesome as booting stuff of the xbox hdd. and if you really have to detach your hd constantly to rip games to it from your computer then that's just plain stupid.
there has to be an ftp tool..heh, i think there is.

The online games apparently do need a patch but I dont know much about that other than that they wont recognize the game because of Sony's DNAS protection that they use to block cheaters and bootlegs.

The hard drive you get with Final fantasy 11 is the same as most other regular HDs the only differance is that it has a specific firmware for the PS2 to recognize it. Putting a regular HD in the PS2 will do nothing, you'll need the HD loader to do anything with it at that point.(You also need to have specific drives, check for a compatability listed before you go out and buy just anyone... also the PS2 wont read more than like 136gb or so.)

Also I'd prefer a swap magic myself, I dont want to make any crazy edits to the inside of my system. For the longest I was waiting for an external modchip because the interior of the PS2 is like a nest of mousetraps. even now I dont really like the Swap magic because it means ripping open the front of the PS2 to slip the disk in and out... once I heard about the HDloader and it's ability to play imports I figured thats what I'd go for. I'm not a big pirate or anything (unless its about music or roms :p) so it made an easy sense for me for the few import games I actually wanted to play. but in the end I might just get the PSTwo because of it's portability for road trips and because I can get a flip cover made for swaping disks without tripping the sensor.

aw man, you're right about the ps2's insides being ridden with moustraps. just a while ago i was trying to fix this broken ps2 that i had lying around. the problem was that it couldn't eject the drive at all. now it doesn't seem to turn on at all. can't find the source of the problem...i've pretty much eliminated all probs i could think of. probably a dead psu, though
