i'm having a bit of trouble importing my own graphics... i think it's a pallette problem, but i don't know how to apply the pallette in GIMP to fix it. the characters are in the right place on the template, with the right background colour for transparencies, but it ends up completely unrecognisable..

also when i set up a teleport to another map (to be used to acces house interior) gigas crashes.

can anyone help please?

Hiya

*do not fear, pirotic is here.. etc etc*

not sure how to use GIMP, if the pallete is incorrect then the sprite should show, just the colours will be wrong - if the sprite isnt showing at all i'd guess you've gone wrong somewhere down the line, try following the tutorial step-by-step and see if that solves it.

as for crashing while making a teleport, somebody else had a similar problem but after investigation i think it was just because they had not been selecting a hot spot before using the 'create teleport'

you gotta draw the hot spot on the map, then move the cursor over it (so it goes solid, showing its selected), THEN press select and try to make a teleport out of it.

if that isnt the case, and its just crashing - try to give me as much detail as you can (or try to repeat it a few times) and i'll hunt down the bug and fix it.

How to copy a palette from one image to another in the gimp -

open image with working palette
bring up the paletes dialog (ctrl+p i think)
right click on palettes list and select import palette
select the image you have loaded and click import

you now have a palette you can apply to all your images

open image to apply palette to
image->mode->rgb
image->mode->indexed
tick use custom palette and select the palette you imported
untick remove unused colours
hit ok

hey pirotic :) i managed to sort it. i *was* selecting the hotspot before using the teleport wizard. and it would crash after loadiing the original map in. (only crashed when 'porting to another map'

try it out, see if it happens to you... it's possible that i was making the teleport points too close to the hotspots, making a sort of 'port here, port there, port here, port there' loop, but i haven't added any since (been playing with cutscenes, adding to my original maps, etc...)

a question : is it possible to use multiple tilesets? my electricity has been off for a couple of days, so i haven't tried...

oh, and thanks, woogal :)

edit: this is fun :)

hmmm, i'll look into the crashing - somebody else reported something similar but i've been unable to repeat it when i've tried.

you can use multiple tile-sets, its in the documentation.

That was me :D

I was able to resolve it by NOT using the teleport wizard, and inputting the X & Y co-ordinates by hand. Note: This only happened when using my own custom tilesets ... using the teleport wizard works fine using the demo tileset that came with GigasEngine. Weird, eh?
