Gpquake 0.3

It depends on what hardware your running. On todays PC's Quake will probably run in excess of 200 frames per second! Hwoever, for our purposes on the gp32, 15 frames should be playable with 25 frames being the ideal for smooth gameplay.

15 fps is roughly equivalent to Frame Skip 2 on an emulator. ie fine for slow stuff but when it moves quick you'll notice it but not too much. It (quake) should be reasonably playable though.

Time to dig out my quake disk methinks :)

EDIT: I watch GP cinema at frame rates of 12 - 15 fps and that's watchable. It's only when things speed up that you notice it's not full film speed.

Neat! I tested this with the official release version of Quake and it works fine. The two PAK files you'll need are around 50Mb, though!

The framerate varies, but drops dramatically whenever you encounter any enemies. Still, this is pretty impressive for 0.3 and I can't wait for later releases to improve speed further.

It did stall when I was playing, but this might be my GP32 rather than any fault of the program...I can run fine at 156 but I've had problems with 166.

VERY interesting. :D Something to look forward to. If this runs fluid, I will set up an own SMC for it.

BTW, are there any mods worth mentioning for Quake1?

Dont think it can load mods yet

I think that release must mainly be bug fixes the last version didnt work on my gp and that one seems fine, I didnt notice a speed differance
