But I don't know how on earth you can say that the Saturn was technically superior to the PS1. Care to explain?
What? Have you saw the spec sheet for the saturn?

Just 'cause it doesnt do 3d as well, It is FAR more powerful. Actually if you look at a game like NiGHTS, its 2D is alot better than PSone games. If the Saturn was let run its course we would have seen its true power.

Yes I have seen the specs. And I would never say that it was 'FAR more powerful' than the PS1. A slightly higher resolution and an extra .5Mb video RAM do not make up for the convoulted architecture of this thing. I've already said that the Saturn was a more capable at producing 2D graphics, but it's 3D that matters here. And the PS1 wins out plain and simple.

Ya forgot Metal Slug and Metal Slug X and King of fighters 97 for the ps1 GRRR :p

2D for saturn crapped all over the PS1 but PS1 was a lot better in 3D.

i dunno... i have never EVER played any good N64 games (except for Zelda Ocarina of time)... and well... i also hate the SNES.
SEGA POWER! the saturn was better than the PSX, the megadrive better than the SNES, and the DC is better than anything out now.
Anyone who says the Mega Drive as better than the SNES really needs help. Ask most people who owned both consoles at exactually the same time and they'll more than likely say SNES ;)
I need help I and all my freinds thought the SNES was way inferior to the Mega Drive. And i unfortunately owned a SNES. Not for long though. Actually most people who have played both say MD but most SNES lovers don't try the MD. Seriously if you like kiddie games stick with the SNES if you like serious games like mmm E-SWAT and Shinobi etc than its the MD. Its the same scenario with the PS1 and N64 except Sony was able to kick Nintendo's ass with some great PR and marketing skills. Huzzah!

I had both and loved them to bits. I preferred the Snes but the Mega Drive still consumed plenty of my time as well. I also owned an N64 and a PS1. All class systems. If only I still lived at home with my parents and could afford to spend all my money on video games. :(

Most 2D games that came out on PSone were conversions from the saturn, but REAL cut down conversions. The Saturns 2D games Kicked ass.

Actually, Metal Slug X was the exception. I've not played it myself, but the PS1 port is supposed to be very good indeed.

I dont think it was a port though, wasnt the saturn one completely differant? Ill have to pick the saturn one up somehow. Rob a bank?

Metal Slug X was never released on the Saturn, only the original Metal Slug. Metal Slug X on the PS1 is a conversion of the NeoGeo game, itself a remix of Metal Slug 2. But neither the PS1 nor the Saturn could match the NeoGeo's 2D capabilities, so both ports are bound to be cut down somewhat.
