Lithium Battery Installed In My Gp32

I have a question. Could you translate this line?

En cuanto a la duración de la pila, aún no lo se, la puse hace unos 4-5 días, y habré jugado unas 4 o 5 horas a 133Mhz, ya veremos cuanto dura ...
I think it says somethign along the lines of:
"I installed 4 or 5 days ago and have played it for about 4-5 hours since at 133mhz, it is still going"

Only my guess.

ok, I pasted the text into an online translation site, and this is what it said...

"As far as the duration of the battery, not yet, I put it about a 4-5
ago days, and will have played 4 or 5 hours to 133Mhz, already we will
see whichever hard..."

It looks like someone else tried this exact line earlier in the thread. It looks like Aiken does not have definite results just yet.

Perhaps a good test would be to run Mr Spiv's CPU tester at a fast rate from a full charge and let it run at 166 untill it craps out.

There is news - he says he got it working and he has photos. Using babelfish we can see that people agree that he did it, but not exactly HOW he did it.

Now we just need to know how the hell he did it.

The phtos really do show everything there is to it. If you want it, I'll really try to do the translation tonight (GMt-6) as I'm in Mexico and am fluent in both languages.

Positives:
We will put a Li-Ion battery in our GP32
We will obtain a much longer battery life
ANYBODY can do it without knowing electronics

Negatives:
We will need an external charger, since the GP32 does not have a way of charging
We will have to “hurt/damage” our precious GP32
We’ll have to adjust the battery compartment with a saw and file
Our GP32 will no longer take regular batteries, this can be easily fixed

The battery I used is a CRV3, or the equivalent rechargeable RCRV3, there are other names, LB-01, etc. Each battery is 1.5v, making both together 3v

….talks about the problem with the battery compartment and goes onto the next page….
Shows the pic of the battery compartment and the space holder thing between the batteries. Cut it on each side with a small metal saw, maybe an exacto knife can work. He goes on to say that you can use a soldering iron, but to be very careful using this to melt the plastic. Finally remove the metal springs since they are just to unify the normal batteries (reason normal batteries will no longer work.) and the Li-Ion should fit in nice and snug. If you just follow along with the pics and click on the the “foto” links which means “picture” you don’t have to know Spanish.

This was just a quick run down to help you understand, if anyone wishes to make an indepth one, feel free. As I don’t have a GP32 anymore I can’t look at one and be more descriptive about it, sorry. Also he just mentions he hasn't really tested the battery life since he installed it about 4-5 days ago and used it about 4-5 hours running at 133mhz.

Hi,

about why i dont do the guide in english, it's because i did it for my website that is in spanish.

about the battery testing you are right, i havent tested the battery enought, i have jut installed the battery and tried it for some hours since i installed it 5-6 days ago.

Someone in a previous answer to this post, wrote something about a tester for battery life ... i not sure how to do a real testing ...

When you say: "the photos dont show everything", they should, because it's a really short and easy proccess, just cut the plastic case to let the battery fit the compartment .. just some photos to show how it's cut ... maybe the part where i put the battery connectors to the leftside should have some photos, but i forgot to make them :( while doing it.

If Shadow_Mx traslate it, i would appreciate ;) ;) ;)

Anyway, just let me know which are your dudes and i'll try to explain them.

Aiken ;) ;)

How does this battery normally charge? Is there a special external charger for this or does the camera charge it?

Also,

Maybe the approach for this is a bit backwards. Instead of modifying the GP32 to fit the battery maybe you could modify the battery to fit the GP32. Many battery packs such as this contain two separate cells joined by a metal jacket, which looks to be the case here. If this jacket was removed the two cells, which appear here to be two AA size cells, could then be placed in the standard battery bay. Something to look into maybe.

ha, i'm using my Motorola Timport and Motorola V50-akkus since ages ^^
ducktaped it to my gp32s back since they dont fit and i dont want to screw the batterybay
dunno how much ampere the akku has, but its got 4.5V
and the its life seems endless (yes, its rechargable of course :D)
Li-Ion of course
c ya

Got a SE P900 i hardly every use (Back of a lorry) for £10 and it has a 3.6v, 1260mAh Li Polymer battery. Seeing this thread i thought Aaahhhh.

Before i took the battery out of the phone it had 18% charge left, Its been in/attached to my GP32 BLU for around 2 hours with no signs of giving up, yet.

Im going to let it run it course, Then give it a good full charge and see just how long this mother will last. :D

Heres some pics (sorry about the size of them .

I know it looks a mess and i`ve only had it for 2 days, But it`s all in the name of science. :p

So what about the life time @133/166mhz ? It would be interesing.
Sorry i never posted back to this thread, Did so in another one.

Anyway, The two hours i said in the post above were slightly off, By about half an hour. The battery only lasted minutes more after i had posted.

I re-did the test with a freshly charged battery and posted the results in the link below.

Is it just me or wouldn't using NiMH batteries with a higher capacity make the battery life longer. Plus they're AA sized and the right voltage. Or is there some kind of Li-ion battery with a capcity over 2000MAH?

Meh, I was the first who made the gp32 battery pack using D sized batteries, but no one gave a damn. I think i still have the picture of it somewhere.

There are more people on the boards now. So I think more people would care. Post them again.
