Scummvm For The Gp32 0.5.1 - Scummy Alpha

Great port, DJWillis! I took the liberty of testing all my SCUMM-based adventures, so here's a list for you. All games are German.

Indiana Jones 3 VGA: Would not run. My Version does NOT have any ID-Files, neither, however, I can play just fine on PC.
Indiana Jones 4: Works.
Loom VGA: Works
Monkey Island 1: Works. Had to crack my game though as I could not enter the Code (Copy Protection)
Monkey Island 2: Again, entering the Code is tedious work.... cracked it, it works.
Sam and Max: This time, the Copy protection posed no problem ;) Works, but the cursor is really s-l-o-w.....
Zak McKracken: Works like a Charm.

Full Throttle: If I had any idea on how to get it onto the SMC (too big), and if it would have run, I would have to your house and kissed your feet.
Well, it didn't. Guess we both are out of luck :D

Flight of the Amazon Queen: Could not copy the files due to the three character extension restriction. Um.... is it even supposed to work?

I would have tested Broken Sword 1 and 2 too, but I did not find my CDs.... if I find them, I'll be sure to test them.

Meh. Now you got me all fired up with your Port. I want Toonstruck on my GP32 now... and the Kyrandia Saga.... and... well, actually, that's it :D

Is there any programm that converts the monster.sou from DOTT directly to oggs?
Um... Don't really get it. Just do what the readme says, works quie nicely.

By the way, DJWillis, is there any way of increasing the cursor speed so I can actually get the fish in monkey island... the one guarded by the bird outside the kitchen?

Ha got me ;) I didn't read the manual ;) (but I removed that comment pretty quickly, even beforce you replied I think... strange that you still saw it)

But is there a way to choose different quality levels for the ogg (or mp3 if it was supported)? I read somewhere that the Dott monster.sou still takes up 83 MB after beeing converted to OGG. That would fit on my 128mb card but I would rather trade some sound quality against space for other games.

Btw it is possible to get the fish, I just did it last week. Just go as far as you can go to the left and then click on the wooden plank (is that a english word?) While he walks all the way to the right you got enought time to move the cursor ;)

I hope to have some time to code on ScummVM for the GP32 again in about 2 weeks time :D. Things are still manic but there is an end in sight to the current trench of non-GP32 stuff.

For info: ScummVM 0.6.0 has now been branched for release preparation so bringing the port up to date should be less work as it is not against a moving target anymore ;) providing I can get the work done before the 0.7.0 code gets too different from 0.6.0.

Also, does anybody have 'really' good code profiling or memory leak hunting skills that could possibly help me sort a few niggles/show stoppers out?

another question about ScummVM (sorry, if this was asked already): I encoded my Sam and Max "monster.sou" file to "Monster.so3" and put it into my SAMNMAX folder. But when i run sam and max, the speech isnt coming up. is there a certain bitrate we have to encode our monster.sou files? If so, could you please post the correct comandline for DOS? you know, something like "extract --mp3 -b 24" or something like that.

Thanks in advance

that's good news, DJWillis. tried mithris' profiler yet?
Yep, and it is very handy. Need some real time to get into it but it did help with 2 majoy 'black spots'. Still trying to bottom out the mouse speed issues currently.

Horscht, OGG only mate, check the readme and this thread for detailed instructions.

Wow, just got my gp32 back and I have to say loom is great!!! I'll get around to testing every game I have it's just there is sooooo much new stuff to play since I last had my GP32!

It's a shame that GPscumm doesn't support 16 color versions. :(
Anyone know where I can get the best versions of lucasarts games? Preferably through an online retailer (not ebay pls).
I'm also going to try some stores in my area but I had no luck so far.

just like to say your release of scumm rules! B) i play monkey island 1 & 2 on the bus on the way to college each day for 2 hours and keeps me well entertained! thanks!!! :p cant wait for the next release

All,

A version 0.6.0 based version of the GP32 port is being worked on very slowly (it’s now more a labour of love then a project that I have specific time put aside for) but I have a request. Can people give me ideas (outside the scope of the core ScummVM engine) on features that people want added into the GP32 port.

No idea if any ideas will ever get coded in but I want to get a feel for what people want specific for the GP32 above and beyond offering the features of the main engine (well for all the 320*240 max games anyway).

Please don't ask for the impossible like Curse of Monkey Island or Broken Sword support ;), I get board with having to reply to emails explaining why they will never work :D.
