I have plans....big appley ones.

I am 19, I was born in England and have lived here all my life. I have visited ALOT of places abroad thanks to my ambitious parents.

One place they said they would never go however is the United states, I don't know why nor do I care anymore.

The two places I wish to go more than anywhere else in the world before I die are Rio de Janiero and (obviously) New York. Now this summer break away from Uni I have a job which providing I work 40 Hour weeks plus overtime can earn me in the region of £1,800. Now any sensible person would use that money to pay off student debts...sensible is my brothers middle name not mine and I want to put it to good use seeing as I deprived myself of a year out.

Now through expedia.co.uk I can get a reasonable, well placed hotel (I have read hundreds of hotel reviews to make sure). Flights. And transport to and from the airport plus a helicopter trip around NYC all for £1,278.45 which is for 2 people, staying five nights from the 18th of Dec to the 23rd.

My big question is to all of those who have been/live there....is it worth it?

dude go for it!

i've never been myself, but have only heard good things about NY and plan on spending some time there myself at some point

the length seems just about right and you'll be right in the xmas rush of things, it will rule!

December 18th to the 23rd? Hey, I'll probably be in NYC myself. My family has relatives who live on Long Island that we visit every Christmas.

Of course that means NYC isn't very spectacular to me anymore, having been there about 10 times, but I could at least give you tips on the sights, or even tell you in person :D

i hear new york is good for clothes, but is VERY dirty, i'd like to go to Tokyo for a massive shopping trip! but it is the number 1 most expensive city in the world.

if it weren't for the fact that they have a nasty habit of crashing, i was going to catch an aeroflot flight to tokyo this summer!
LOL.

I think you should go to New York, I was only there for a day but I loved it, but maybe thats 'cause im from a small city. But GO! You wont regret it!

Meh, I'd prefer to live somewhere like that, than visit for a few days. If I only had a week I'd spend it somewhere more exotic or unique.

I've been some fairly unique and exotic places, I want a bit of culture for a change, and I'm a huge fan of architecture.
