DDR extreme (JAP) kicks ass. seriously. i did not open my DVD-drive for about half a year because of this.
amplitude is cool too.
and rainbowsix 3 might be good, because it rocks on xbox.

sorry for me not formulating real sentences, but im just about too lazy to think right now.

PSI-OPS: is a great action game with alil bit of RPG elements to it
Splinter Cell Pandora tommorow: is good and has great mulitplayer
Resident Evil Outbreak: is fun online if you are not going to play online and if you dont have the sony HDD dont bother with this RE its eXtremely slow without the HDD

then cross that off my list cuz without online gameplay that game is weak well the other ones on my list are good and he should give em a try B)

you guys missed the best games!
Gun Grave and Shinobi are the best games, in my opinion. Plus, they both have dark storylines :)
i'm getting a PS2 for my birthday (yay) and those are the first two i'm getting. also, Xenosaga is pretty good (i'm getting the ps2+xenosaga pack @gamestop).

yea GunGrave I forgot about that it is a very fun game with a dark storyline. The animated scenes were done by the same guy who draws Trigun awesome Anime by the way.

Star Ocean 3: Till the End of Time.

I suggest you buy it if you've played Star Ocean 2. If not, then you should. Immediatly.

Personally, I find PS2 RPGs OK but they haven't really outmatched the old PS1 RPGs yet. All my favorites are still on PS1 really. I got extremely into Xenosaga, but only because I found the story so great (and I was a Xenogears fanatic). The gameplay was ehhh. Episode 2 is coming out soon, it seems like they traded story for gameplay so that balance might be a little better.

There's also Tales of Eternia.

I almost never play any games besides RPGs and the Megaman series. The problem with games like Shinobi is that they take lightning-quick reflexes to become good, which is something I don't have. I only beat Tomb Raider after using at least a million saves, and I never really got much better at the game. I do have strategy, which especially why I like strategy RPGs (Ogre Battle is my favorite for nostalgia alone). I like having time to plan my next move. As for Megaman...well, I did actually get good at the Megaman games as a kid. And let's face it, all the Megaman games are basically the same. They also aren't that difficult, so with all of that combined they are at about the right difficulty for me with a real-time game (childishly easy). Megaman Zero beats me to a pulp. I could barely get past the 1st boss.

One of the better games i've played for PS2 was Halflife: Decay, man that game is fun. Other than that, I liked: Twisted Metal Black, FF-X, Parappa2, GTA3, Serious Sam, and i've been hearing how .HACK and Kingdom Hearts are pretty good...
