Not being burdened by any knowledge about porting I was wondering if there are people around who use Evernote and/or Zimbra and if they have any idea if this would be viable.

Both have turned into indespensable tools in my business life and it would be great if I could use them on my Pandora once it arrives.

Both not exactly the most open software out... xD

Figures! :(

NeverNote appears to be an EverNote compatible open source alternative: http://nevernote.sourceforge.net/

Would this need to be ported to Pandora or should it work "as is"? Probably the former, just my ignorance hoping there might be an easy way out. :)

The Zimbra suite isn't essential as I guess I can get it running through another email client and hopefully agenda and contact integration. If it would be a simple port, as it was open source it would've just been nice to have on email/agenda/contact piece of software to rule them all. If the Nevernote thing can be made workable on the Pandora I'd be over the moon. Evernote is such a huge asset to tackle my chaotic way of being. I've digitalised all my bookkeeping, my agenda is clear nowadays, everything gets scanned with an app on my Android phone and just filed away in the right spot instantly, and then I just work of Evernote when I process it.

It would need to be ported. I just grabbed the source (git://nevernote.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/nevernote/nevernote) but it has some requirements that are outside my skillset (most any requirement beyond typing 'make' is outside my skillset :/)

For anyone interested:

== To Build From Source ==

==========================

To build from source package, you need several additional utilities and developers kit.

JDK:

Java standard developers distribution. you can download it from http://www.java.com/

or as Linux package

lupdate, lrelease (not needed if you use Eclipse & don't want to wory about non-English translations):

translation helper ulitilites

These tools is bundled with qtjambi distribution where bin/ directory of qtjambi

Well, Nevernote is Java. It might "just work" with no rebuilding required at all. It's way too late for me to be fiddling with stuff, but I'll give it a shot tomorrow.

Well, just for giggles, I gave it a shot. Made sure java.pnd was installed, extracted nevernote-0.97_i386.tar.gz to SD, and ran ./nevernote.sh

The terminal burst into life, then it stopped with "Could not reserve enough space for object heap".

I'll hand this one over to the adults.

So the Pandora is just to weak for the Orginal Version over Nevernote.

Is there a posibility to optimize-Port Nevernote to run on the Pandora?

I see that there are ports of Evernote for Smartphones with les power then the Pandora.

If its not posible to run Nevernote on the Pandora what alternative Note Organisatins Program is ther?

It would be cool if it was a cross Platform Programm (just like Nevernote) so that I can take notes on my Home-Ubuntu-PC, Work-Windows-PC and the Pandora.

A other Programm thats Cross Platform and opensource is: Keepnote. Is this program maybe Portable to the Pandora?
