You Ask For A Wii...

I love my modded XBOX.

It's great. I got some old chip in it back in the day...but had to change it when they starting banning people from LIVE - to one with a switch.

I never bothered with a bigger Hard Drive - should have done though.

Being very, very lazy it would have been great to have all my XBOX games on the hard drive instead of facing the arduous and painful task of getting up to change games.

However, the stock hard drive is big enough for a satisfying collection of roms - I have it all on there, ranging from N64 to back when games were played only by geeks in their dungeons...I mean bedrooms.

Now, what I do use it for though mostly, like everyone has said - is the XBOX Media Center. This is the best thing ever...ever. No seriously. My 360 is like the XBMC's grotty remenince. It's that good.

I don't store all my stuff on the hard drive though, that's for my roms. I play it all from my PC - Video, Music, Pictures. It's all there, it will play anyhting as well...and it looks sweet upscaled with a component cable.

As well, the thing about the XBOX these days is, even if you're not into all the above (and backing up your games B) ) - Games can be had for like a fiver in some places..OR LESS. Woolies always ahs loads of cheap, great games. I just picked up a brand new XBOX with HALO 2, FORZA, Poject Gotham 2 and FABLE for 50 NOTES. 50 POUND. What a bargain. Argos if you were wondering. It was for someone else, but that's great.

Anyway, the XBOX is still good. Had it since the 2002 World Cup - Brazil vs Turkey (that's how I remember the day)...and in comparison, I'm on my 2nd 360, and although it's great, I've never had to take back one of my many console before. AND IT DOES INDEED SOUND LIKE A TANK.

BTW, You should check out Forza Motorsport when you've got it all up and running.
I forgot that one. I actually like it more than Gran Turismo 4.

Also, I don't really notice the noise on my XBox too much. I mean it's not dead silent, but it's not really any worse than my PS2 was. My TV drowns it out pretty good at normal volume. I can't say about whether it's bad with a DVD in the drive, since I haven't used that drive for a while now. :)

Well really, the xbox can be silent. If you're running XBMC, use the fan auto-adjust setting. And if that isn't enough, it's only an 80MM fan that needs replacing, just buy one that's quiet, and get a molex Y-Splitter, and you're set! I'm going to have to agree with everyone about how great XBMC is, it's just full of so many features, like if you have internet hookup, there's a script you can use so you can view shoutcast feeds.

the fan inside the xbox is about 70mm and it has some weird brackets so it fits nicely, an 80mm fan is possible but it needs dremel'ing so it will fit properly...

The best drive you can get is the Samsung dvd drive, then comes the Phillips drive and finally the shitty Thompson.
