Release [WIP] Master Control - Testers needed

In the previous topic there's even the dump ;)

EDIT: I don't have options in the driver about power saving... and even nothing about timeout

I was using Bluesoleil and I found nothing about timeout things, anyway I didn't have any problems when using my phone as HID device... It was disconnecting only if I was doing nothing with it, but if I was pressing keys, no problems at all.

Anyway, just to be sure, and just because I always hated Bluesoleil, I unistalled all it's drivers and things... and started using the Windows drivers

Now, with my phone I still have no problems at all.

But with the Pandora something weird happens:

every device added have it's list of services that I can "mark" to be used, so, for example in my phone the HID service is marked and I can connect to the PC as keyboard.

For the Pandora the story is different, seems like the windows drivers are ALWAYS searching for the services list, and if I mark the HID service, and then I close MasterControl, that service disappear from the list... but when I start MasterControl again, it reappears in the list UNMARKED...

Anyway, I marked it and tried connecting to the PC but I receive a "Connection failed! Connection refused" everytime ... one time I had even a "Host is down" ...

Never heard of  Bluesoleil before. But I'm always referring to the standard BT drivers.

Now, that you use the default drivers, is Windows able to connect to MC?

The behavior you mention is the same on my machine. Windows keeps scanning for services. Think that's normal.

I've seen that before. Curiously, Windows refuses to accept connections directly after it has been paired. (When I pair, Windows connects to MC and everything is fine. Now, when I disconnect and try to reconnect, I get the same messages as you)

Disabling/enabling the BT adapter or just rebooting seems to fix this. Now I can connect/disconnect as I want. Maybe you could try that.

Bluesoleil was memorizing the list of services of every device added so you was able to configure them even with the device shut down.

How can I connect from windows to the pandora keyboard ? With Bluesoleil I was doubleclicking on the HID service of the Pandora device, but in windows I can't find options that fit the situation...

I only see a "direct connection" option but it just tells me "Connected" but nothing seems happening... and I don't understand what kind of connection it is...

I still have to make a successful keyboard connection with these drivers

There is indeed no such option on Windows. A reconnect has to be initiated by the HID. I think the reason for this is, that a standard HID is never in listening mode, except when it's about to be paired. (MC is always listening)

I read this phrase as "try to connect from Windows" :)

Anyway, rebooted, restarted driver, un/plugged the dongle different times, paired and RE-paired... but still no luck... always connection refused

I meant during the pairing process :)  That's the only situation, in which Windows initiates the connection.

*Sigh* I'm once more clueless atm.

*Sigh* now listen to this... I disabled bluetooth on the Pandora, and Windows keeps telling me in the pandora device properties "last connection: currently connected", and it finds it services too, exept for the HID that is "not plugged in"...

It's late... I should go make the dinner :D

Just to be sure :)  The service is enabled (marked) when you try to connect?

Only if I mark it and do APPLY... if I press OK, windows makes little beeps, a little yellow sign appears for a second on the device and then disappear... and if I open again the service list is unmarked...

Can this be useful to you ? (I translated the phrase, maybe the english string can be different)

Code:
Driver Bluetooth: HCI event with specific dimensions provided has not been received.
It appears as ERROR in windows events log from BTHUSB every time I try to mark the hid service and press ok.

It really should stay checked. Otherwise you'll get "Connection refused".

I don't get any warnings or errors when doing the same. It just works. Can't tell what the driver expects here.

Let's try something else (without MC involved):

- On your Pandora open a terminal and enter "sudo sdptool add keyb"

- Pair with Windows (Windows should find a HID Keyboard)

- Now test if you still get this error

It added a new HID function to the pandora list, seems like with a wrong driver because it was reported as not working (code 10), so on the pandora icon there was a yellow sign persistently added, anyway after that the hid service remains marked without problems.

Then I tried MasterControl, but the connection was always refused.

The service is not functional, because there is no process behind, that handles the connection. sdptool just creates a service descriptor, nothing else. So, everything is ok. At least the service keeps checked in Windows.

I'll append a small tool that will test the connection for that descriptor. Just do the same as before (sdptool .., pair...(and make sure MC is not running)). After that run "sudo bttest xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx" where x is your Windows machine. You should open a text editor, as the tool will try to send some '0' (zeros) to the host. If this works, there could be something wrong with MC's service descriptors.

success here with the bluetooth :)

it was a bit fiddly though; I followed the above suggestion of entering the BT address in the conf file by hand and tried a few times..in the end not sure what made it work [could be some host side config]..

is there a way to get the shift working (eg for the %* etc)?? (ignore this - I see have to add the mapping in the conf) hmm still not so easy, i can make the shift work

but that will make e.g. shift+4=$ instead of ~ (well, it makes sense) also instead of () I get []..

Great! :) Would you mind telling us which host os (and version) you used?

I'm aware of this issue. That's because the Pandora uses a non-standardized key set. Pressing shift-9 produces the key code for '(' but on the Pandora you'll get a '[', which is a different (and unshifted!) key code on a standard (English) keyboard. That makes it quite tricky to map all keys 1:1. Especially if one wants to support multiple languanges.

HCI: Host address is: XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX

HCI: Finding a route to host: Ok!

HCI: Open local device: Ok!

HCI: Create a connection: Ok!

HCI: Get connection info: Ok!

HCI: Authenticate connection: Ok!

HCI: Disconnect: Ok!

HID: Creating sockets...

HID: Creating control socket: Ok!

HID: Creating interrupt socket: Ok!

HID: Trying to connect to host...

HID: Connecting to control psm (17): Failed! (Connection refused)
